I think the 1242 and one other engine size mentioned by Haynes (which I cant remember off the top of my head) are the only ones not to have inline filters if it did I am sure mine would have been changed at least once in the 46k its done so far but thats never been done. Will double check though - or any other 1242 owners confirm or deny

FIAT BRAVA 182 My first Bravo

Trofeo 16V 80 1242cc 86K on clock Wreg Airbag light on. Is it a similar fix as the Multipla ie WD40 on the contacts under the seat Smooth performance (was my brothers and he took care of it) though there is the slightest vibration in the 30-45mph band when gentle acceleration. A bit worried about not finding any old repair and service bills for a belt change Probably need to see to that. Any idea on

FIAT BRAVA 182 Air comes out when opening the fuel tap

A friend of mine has a brava 1242cc 80 (like mine) which he thinks that he has a problem. When he has a short journey and goes to a gas station to refill when he opens the fuel tap air comes out with pressure. I dont know if he has a problem with the tap because tap should release the air pressure and he dont want to change the tap because it opens with the blue key. Is there any chance to change the

FIAT BRAVA 182 My Brava 1242 engine is poorly please help

last week i was driving my brava with no probs then a funny noise come from the engine(like air blowing against papper hard) and the engine lost power like it was fireing on 2 cyclinders then the orange engine light started flasing anyway it went for a few more mile and i turned it off thinking it may of over heated and left it for about an hour came back started itit strated stright away but still

i have notice this breather pipe that comes off the air filter are goiong to the injection unit and conects to the top right of the engine and a smaller diameter pipe that conects to the plastic part of the fuel system is snapped would this cause a miss fire or non start

FIAT PUNTO I 176C 176L Advice Needed Mk1 16v Punto

Hello Everyone Ive just bought a 1999 1242 16v mk1 punto and am after some advice on some cheap modifications i can do to her both under the bonnet and shes gotta look pretty aswell Since the picture was taken ive put the 14 alloys off my Seicento on her and changed the front indicators to clear ones and shes looking much better already As i know my way about a workshop the cost of labor means nothing

FIAT PUNTO Punto engine swop - fitting mk23 16v into mk1 16v

Say I got a mk1 42mpg 16v Cabrio and a crashed mk23 47mpg 16v Saloon. What wd it take to fit that mk23 engine into the mk1 16v Cabrio Wd it be the whole engine or just the top end and ancilliary bits ECU etc A 47mpg Cabrio wd be significantly economical for a few yrs and wd still be a dirt-cheap car. What about a 6sp box out of a Sporting - wd that drop in OK The Sportings nominally only 45mpg for same bhp etc. Wd that be due to shorter gearing in the 6sp box

The mk2 is called an 80 too not an 85 as it has only 80 bhp instead of 86 (and to further confuse people out there there was a third managment system with 82bhp available in very early mk2 1.2 16vs). Apart from that theyre the same engine Gerboxes are identical except for extra mounting holes in the mk2 boxes Ive put a 97 Sporting engine into a mk2 Sporting. It was a pig to fit and get working. Its much easier putting a mk2 into a mk1 both engine and box which ive also done As for putting a 6 speed dont get caught out like i did with my bravo. I lost full lock on the right due to the extra cog...
