FIAT BRAVA 182 Fiat Bravo 1.8HLX Camshaft Sensor

I think I may have a failing camshaft sensor in my fiat bravo 1.8 HLX 1997. The car always started first time but since having the timing belt replaced it still may start first time but on other occasions it can take two or three attempts although once started runs like a dream. Question can the camshaft sensor be removed replaced without removing the cam belt Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

the hole on the block or binning it with the old sensor. Is it defiantly the cam sensor you need to change rather than the crank Its very rare we get posts about people changing cam sensors but crank sensors are often know to produced intermittent starting for people that have posted before. FIAT BRAVA 182 Fiat Bravo 1.4S CAMSHAFT

DEAR READERS AS A STUDENT I WAS SAVING UP TO BUY MYSELF A NICE CAR FOR A REASONABLE PRICE. WHEN I SAW fiat bravo I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT STRAIGHT AWAY. SAVED SOME MONEY TO GET A NICE SECOND HAND EXAMPLE AND GOT MYSELF A LOVELY bravo. HOWEVER MY HAPPINESS DIDNT LAST VERY LONG. I HAD THE CAR MAYBE OVER A MONTH AND ALL SORTS OF STRANGE THINGS STARTED HAPPENING. THE CAR HAS DONE 55 K MILES WHICH I THINK

no need too SHOUT that 1.4 12v motor really sucks you can understany why fiat took it out of production so quickly.

Im also owner of an Brava 1.4 12v and I have to tell you as follows. If you want to keep this Brava with that engine you have to use original oil Sellenia gold (if you use the other one that can be hazardous to you camshaft oil pipes etc). Once a year or during oil change you need to flush oil installation along with oil pipes. That is all considering the problem with camshaft maintenance.Have luck

How much did you pay for the car You often need to spend some money when buying a used car theres often a reason people dont want them anymore Are you taking it to a main dealer your best bet it to take it to an independent garage youll get a better deal. Ask friends for some recommendations.

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo GT ecu upgrade for camshafts

Hello everyone i am new here and this is my first post. I have a bravo GT (18 113hp 182A2000 engine) the upgrades i have done so far is full exhaust with manifold custom carbon ram air filter cylinder head porting with full tuning on the valves etc. metallic flange and bigger throttle body. Right now i decide to upgrade the camshafts with re-profiling but i dont know anything about the ecu .....

The Firm that sells you the camshafts should give you the ecu remap or better info ...

FIAT BRAVA 182 Fiat Bravo 1.4 Valves Camshaft

I am in the process of re-building my head due to a headgasket problem. I have decided to go the whole hog and replace the camshaft as the oil bar had obviously got itself blocked at some point and has caused a couple of the lobes to wear. Anyway the problem now is that cylinder 4 has no compression - this seems to be due to the inlet valves not fully closing. I know this because if you pour water

You havent checked the shims. You obviously have too large a shim in that valve. Take a smaller shim use your feeler gauges to get the gap do the math and get the correct shim. Cheers SPD

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo 1.4 12v CamshaftSpray Bar problems

Ive had problems before where the spray bars stopped working and then ruined the cam shaft. Well I replaced the spray bars and it worked for months without a problem. Then the noise started again so this time ive replaced the camshaft and then used the car for a couple of weeks and then it started again. Ive removed the rocker cover gasket and it looks like the spray bars arent working again. The real

this is a very common problem on the 1.4. the oil bar is only half the story the pick up pipe supplies oil to the bar and that blocks up just as easily. a clear bar wont have any oil pressure if the pick up pipe is blocked. you should clean both at every service by bathing them in petrol or similar. your new cam may be damaged from oil starvation. inspect its lobes to see if it needs replacing (again) it doesnt take long to damage a dry camshaft.

FIAT BRAVA 182 over to the bravo side

hey i am a new bravo owner i bought Adrian bravo bravo off him httpwww.fiatforum.commembers-mot...-modified.html im hoping to restore it to its former glory at first try and repair the original engine (1.4 12v) and in time drop the 1.6 into it. so i thought id just say hi im going to start work on it tomorro i have taken it around the block and i have head a knocking from the near side front it only

on it the bolts will brake the head. With the tensioner still at maximum Carefully turn the engine over a couple of times by hand. You can recheck the timing again if you wish mine was still spot on. Put the tensioner in its final position. Fit the sprayer bar and tighten all the camshaft cap bolts to the correct torque. Done. __________________ Parts Wanted. FIAT BRAVO AMS and the Fiat Bravo Brake Scandal the REAL lowdown

OK everyone this is my first post here and I honestly wish it was far simpler and more pleasant than having to comment on a review filled with ludicrous claims. Yes its about the claim made by the Greek branch of Auto Motor und Sport magazine that the fiat bravo 1.4 90bhp doesnt have brakes big enough for the job. I understand it has been mentioned in another post in these forums but I was one of the

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo gone mental

hi all heres the story and because im not really mechanically minded i need some light shed on a few things. ok here we go i got a constant ticking noise which sounds to be coming from the pullies belt area we had a new belt put on but it still ticks 2nd when driving it runs fine then all of a sudden the temp goes up just a couple of lines on the gauge and the car begins to stutter and on the worst

the misfire issue will probably be due to incorrect valve clearances due to dry tappets and worn camshaft lobes. the first thing to do is clean the oil bar and get oil going back to the head. this is free easy and should be done at every service. there are many threads about this issue there are some instructions in this thread httpwww.fiatforum.combravo-brava...t-tappets.html there are other threads

FIAT BRAVA 182 Might get a BravoBrava - Help

Looking at getting a bravoBrava mainly for motorway journeys Ive always liked the look of them and wanted something comfortable enough for motorways etc. Ive been looking at the 1.2s and the 1.6s mainly as I can afford to insure those. What would you lot (although I would imagine youre all slightly bias) say they are like to drive decent for motorways A comfy cruiser Anything I should specifically

Mainly based on better options being more available. It was known for camshafts being destroyed through oil starvation and not being very fuel efficient since its fuel intection system only used throttle position RPM temperature and Lambda sensors to work out fueling it didnt have MAF or MAP sensors. 1.2s and 1.6 are better engines plus theres lots of parts available both used and new since fiat

FIAT BRAVA 182 Camshaft And Tappets

I want to change the camshaft on the bravo (1.4 12v) so ive bought this httpcgi.ebay.co.ukwseBayISAPI.d...m130097672327 I also need to replace the tappets when i asked the bloke whos going to fit these parts for me he said that the followers in the kit ive bought ARE the tappets. When looking at these httpcgi.ebay.co.ukwseBayISAPI.d...8834&rd1&rd1 I think hes wrong. Is he do i need to buy the tappets in the above link Thanks.

that the oil feed pipe is seated correctly before tightening the bolts. Ive got another oil feed pipe from the scrap yard that I keep in a bath of parafin so when i do a service I swap them over. TBH I have never had to clean the oil pick up pipe on myn so Im not to sure how you do that. Ignore the numbers on the pic its the head bolt tightening sequence. __________________ Last edited by fiat_-_bravo

FIAT STILO Camshaft position sensor malfunction

Hi Been having problems with my Stilo 12 16V (2002) (again). Engine fault light is on and the fault code seems to be P0340 - camshaft position sensor malfunction. If I understand the eLearn manual correctly it is located on the block near the spark plugs and the connector is on right hand side (looking the engine from the front). Wires seem OK the connector was not dirty and multimeter shows open circuit

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo HGT

I have a fiat bravo HGT with the following problem The engine cuts out at around 4000rpm the relays in the glove box cut out its not the rev limiter. The rev counter jumps about 500 rpm before it cuts out once you dipped the clutch and the revs actually drop the engine restarts. fiat changed the camshaft sensor and charged a fortune and then blamed the ECU . FIAT BRAVA 182 Cheap camshaft kit. Shall I go for it

Hello. I have to replace camshaft at my 1.4 bravo. I searched eBay and found lots of cheap (79 GPB) camshaft kits. FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo Power

Just wondering what the power output of a 1.6 16v sx engine was its from a 1999 T-reg one Cheers guys

the book figure is 103bhp but peak power figures mean very little. your particular example could have a peak of 80-100bhp. more importantly the 1.6 has 106lbft of torque which is good for a 1.6 and even more importantly the torque curve is fairly flat so you have plenty of usable torque across a good chunk of the rev range that is what gives the 1.6 its willingness from the fiat brochure The Torque

FIAT BRAVA 182 is my bravo slowly dying

hello i have got a 98 bravo 1.4 with 80000 miles on it has started making a screeching noise and a ticking noise that seem to be coming from the cam shaft the car only does this when cold once warmed up the noises virtually stop. I sounds like the engine is about to seize. I am going to change the oil but i am not sure what oil to get can anyone help please I have just read the thread about camshafts and i am now panicing

The 1.4 bravo is well known for camshaft problems due to having an oil spray bar that sprays oil onto the camshaft. This gets blocked very easily especially of the oil is not changed regularly. Recommended is every 6k at least. If you are lucky you may have caught it early enough but best get it checked and quick.

FIAT BRAVA 182 Post Camshaft change problems

Hi All new here looking for help and getting deparate. 1.4 12v bravo 1996. Drizzle bar dried up and rounded all 4 cam lobes on the exhaust valves by about 5mm or more. Have changed for a new camshaft (new secondhand) and now the little darling wont start. I have followed tdc by the flywheel and also a screwdriver down the 1st spark plug hole. I have set the cam according to haynes with cam on pot one

housing. I aligned the center mark withe the one on the housing. after aligning the marks i put the timing belt on adjusted the belt tensioner and then i turned the crank shaft 2 times (with the spark plugs out) As i got closer to the marks i moved the crank shaft slower and stopped exactly on the marks. Checked the marks lined up aand that was it. Attached Thumbnails   __________________ fiat

does the car know weather to fire on 1 or 4 I have pulled the crank sensor out of an old engine and the gap in the teeth comes round each time 1 and 4 are at tdc . So theoretically it doesnt matter if the cam marks are 180 degree backwards Or does it Can the ECU stop the car starting even when showing a spark and giving fuel I am close to throwing the engine in the bin ta Dave __________________ fiat

FIAT BRAVO New cambelt noise

Hi. Ive just had the cambelt waterpump and tensioner done on my t-jet 150. Theres now a slight whirring noise coming from the cambelt area. Its not loud but is noticeable. Most audible when letting foot off the gas and allowing the revs to drop. The mechanic said its normal and should go in a few days when the belt has bedded in. Just want to hear peoples thoughts on this. I can live with it if its

The noise has continued over another 15k (and another waterpump belt and tensioner in the meantime)and we have now located it (by a process of elimination) to the part of the engine behind the cambelt pulley . FIAT BRAVO Timing Chain

Anyone used one of these on their bravo converted to chain Would be hugely interested if you have or if its possible

electromechanical solenoid is powerful enough or quick enough to activate 100 times a second and If they did its working life would be a matter of days. The only way to ditch the belt or chain Is to direct drive the cam off the crank shaft. Which causes problems with overhead cam arrangements. And would probably still be impractical for the multiair Loving this thread as well. If you go to the fiat
