FIAT 500 II New diesel engine 1.3 16v 95HP

It seems fiat will introduce a new 1.3 diesel engine for the 500C and I think for the normal 500 as well. StartStop system will be available for the 1.4 petrol engine and will be standard for the new 1.3 diesel engine but there is no startstop option for the old 1.3 (75HP). system with an even more finely measured fuel delivery. Multijet 2 is the official title. If indeed this is what the new 95 is - but I think so. Both torque and performance and economy are improved. Particularly torque and emissions. For this reason I doubt it will be as laggy as the current 90 since the low end torque is enhanced. I would hope that transmissions will be upgraded to cope fiat

According to cinquecentisti.com the new diesel engine will be available from November for the normal 500 and 500C. Details will be provided soon on the Frankfurt Motorshow...

to beat the quoted figures in his Boxter. These tests dont factor in the slipperiness of lets say a Boxter to the comparably brick shaped Panda for instance. Effectively they stick the car on a rolling road to run the tests so the car doesnt need to accelerate anything other than the actual drivetrain up to speed. So while yes it will give comparable measurements between a 1.3mj a 1.2 and a 1.4 500

Is there no way of having the higher powered diesel without the stop and start Itll need one hell of a huge battery

FIAT 500 II 1.3 Diesel Engine - problems

anyone with any further info on the following please fiat suspends production of 1.3 Multijet engines Italys fiat has suspended production of its 1.3 Multijet diesel engines because of quality control problems the automaker said on Wednesday. A number of anomalies have emerged with regard to an externally-supplied component for the 1.3 Multijet engine fiat said in a statement.

Posted by Most Easterly Pandas Whats your annual mileage Iirc someone worked out the extra cost of the diesel version mean you needs to do 30-35k a year and keep it for at least 5 years or something dilly like that to break even. In the UK any increase in fuel economy over the 1.2 will likely be wiped out by the extra cost of diesel - my 1.2 petrol has the lowest fuel cost per mile of any 500

In response to the OP whenever I reach 70 in my 1.3MJ (not often as my ears pop and I get nosebleeds above 60......) I have no awareness of engine noise whatever. Road noise yes. I would suggest the OP not to consider noise an issue re the diesel.

FIAT 500 II Orange Engine Warning Light (Diesel)

Had the orange engine warning light come on twice yesterday. Rang dealer but they were shut til Monday. Read manual to find that it is probably a fueling problem and that it is OK to carry on driving albeit carefully. As I dont ever rev the engine high so when I had to use it I didnt notice any performance differences not like you might if it had gone into the limp home mode. After I got home I switched
