BMW Z3 E36 Anyone have links to Z4 and other SMG descriptions

I remember reading detailed descriptions of the various bmw SMG units (SMGII SMG SSG etc.) but cannot find the info on the internet again. ANyone have good links to articles bmw publications etc. on the various SMGs I am trying to determine the exact differences between the Z4 SMG and the other ones offered. Thanks

There should be relatively detailed info on the international bmw site. The Z4 one is the same one in non-M E46s.

Thanks. The only detail ws for the SMGII on the M3 and was still more of a sales brochure than the more detailed technical descriptions I remember from before. They had virtually nothing of any meaningful content on the Z4s SMG. For some reson I thought the SMG in the Z4 was different than what had been used for a couple of years on the E46 in Europe (formally called SSG) and what is now being used in the U.S.

I can tell you a few small differences but I dont have my source material handy. First off yes there is some good info on the bmw international web site. Just last week I downloaded a bunch of things for my incoming (built but not yet shipped) M3 SMG. I havent actually driven the SMG in the E46 M3 but I did test drive an SMG-equipped 330 and received some answers to a similar question from someone

Hi Everyone Im looking for other really cool down to earth people in the Orange County California area who are Z4 owners like me - and Im particularly looking for an Orange County Z4 Owners CLUB if anyone knows of one...

I personally would like to revive the original tradition behind the Crystal Cove Car Show (now Cars & Coffee) which is Car enthusiasts show up at the same time (lets say 8am on Saturday) and eat breakfast at Pacific Whey in Crystal Cove. Its a great place to eat and a good parking lot for a small group to sequester themselves in a corner. p.s. Another activity that is very accessible to OC bmw

BMW Z3 E36 Other Than Your Z3(s) and Z4(s) Is There Another BMW Youd Like To Own

Like most everyone else here I love my Z4. I often think that the only car Id rather own is a Z4 M. I test drove a brand new Z4 and can honestly say I prefer the styling of my 2006. (I spotted an Alpina a few months ago and was very impressed by its formidable appearance - but not enough to shell out those kind of bucks even if I could.) What about you next to your Z what bmw would you most like to own

My other car is an E39 M5. Its been a good car for me so far owned it since late summer 2007. I passed emissions with it today and forgot how much more comfy it is compared to my Z3 roadster. I still love my Z3 there is a time and place for both (except winter lol) I would like to try a diesel bmw eventually preferably the latest X5 diesel or 5 series diesel with awd (if available). Something for winter.

I currently drive either my Z4 or my X3 (also with three pedals btw ) This combination works well for me here in Wyoming.

BMW Z3 E36 04 Z4 3.0 Transmission Fluid Change other service at 90k

I have researched this and could not come to any conlcusions on changing the transmission fluid. Some people say yes and some say no. I talked to my bmw Advisor and he said its lifetime but bmw recommends changing it at 100k He also advised me not to change the fluid as it could dislodge some dirt that is stuck and mess up the transmission. I have about 87k and my inspection is coming up in 3k. My

consider getting the differential fluid changed as well. I would personally get the transmission fluid changed. I had a 2003 X5 and had them change the Auto Trans fluid at 96K. I ran it up to 126K when I sold it and had no problem with the transmission. You shold get the filter changed as well. If the work is done at a bmw dealership it should not affect your warranty. You might be better off changing

However A brake fluid change every 2 years is absolute overkill

WTKwhere can i buy a hard top for my Z4 other than my dealer they want 2800.00 for it

Keep your eyes peeled on ebay. They pop up often. Like this one for a Z3 httpcgi.ebay.comebaymotorsbmw-z...QQcmdZViewItem

Try other dealers. I got mine (though the parts guy not service or car sales) for 1950 for a Z3 (I see you have a Z4). New tops from the dealer include the mounting kit theyre painted in your cars body color and theyre delivered to the dealer. One dealer in SC sold for even less than that. For eBay tops you need to add the cost of the mounting kit plus packing shipping plus any repaint.

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 M Status on other Coilover kits

I heard today that Bilstein and H&R arent even close to having a production kit available for the Z4 M platform. Im guessing low sales numbers are keeping it on the back burner.
