I have a K & N in my FJ Cruiser and I highly recommend it. Paper filters are crap and with the K & N all I have to do is clean and oil it. The price is worth it. Will replace the filter in the Z4 when I get the chance.

BMW Z3 E36 2005 Z4 2.5i oil help

Hey guys first post here actually so please forgive me if I make any faults. I recently purchased my first car. Luckily enough it was as stated a 2005 Z4 2.5i I just got my license yesterday but got the car a few days before that so it was TORTURE. I was wondering how often I should change my oil. I bought it with 584XX miles from a dealer. Problem is I dont know if I should change the oil now or if

Do them yourself. Be careful of the cheapy oil change places They use cheap oil adn even cheaper filters. You have a very nice car I suggest maintaining it properly with the proper oil (bmw is very specific about the oil).

With oil and filters I like to stick to the manufacturers recommendations. See httpwww.bmwusa.comStandardConte...ngineoils.aspx for bmws oil recommendations. But in all the forums Ive read oil choice is more a religious choice than one based on science. All that said I use Mobil 1 0-40 (easily available at a reasonable price at Walmart) and bmw filters (an oil filter bought from a bmw dealer either online or in person).

BMW Z3 E36 Engine Oil and Filter Where to Buy Z4 3.0i

Sorry for this post i know there are many like it. But can someone steer me in th eright direction to where i can buy oil and filter cheaply. I am tired of paying for 100.00 oil changes. thanks

(HU 9254 X - cheaper over the long haul) and pick up Castrol Syntec 0W-30 from AutoZone or PepBoys when it is on sale and save even more for your efforts. the case price for 10 filter for his N52 engine is actually about 17 cheaper from Tischer and they pay the freight as well. I bought the case from Tischer and buy my oil from Wal-Mart (Valvoline 5w30 synthetic which is approved on the bmwUSA

I buy my Castrol Full Synthetic at Wal-Mart. 25 for a 5 quart container. I buy 3 containers for 75 and my oil is covered for 2 full oil changes. I get whatever aftermarket filter is available for around 10 at any local auto shop. Ive compared different filters and I havent seen or experienced any difference between brands.

BMW Z3 E36 2003 Z4 - DIY Oil Change...

I just changed my first oil change in my Z4 because the oil seem dark. I didnt know the count down for oil change is 15000 miles... Where when I own a Camry I would change it every 3000 miles... I changed the oil for my Z4 recently but did not do the research for it first prior to changing the oil. The manual recommended to use bmw High Performance synthetic oil and on the oil cap it recommended to

TTMaster99 If you had gotten the Castrol 0W-30 (which is made in Germany) from Autozone you would be on the right oil. It is equal to the one the dealer sales for your car if not better. I run this oil in my sons Z4 and wifes 530i. Ebay is great for buying a 10 pack of oil filters (Mahle or Mann brand whichever is cheaper).

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 First Oil Change Interval

My 2008 Z4 now has 4500 miles on it. The oil change countdown says 11500. Does this car really have a 16000 mile oil change interval I drive very aggressively and I would think that would stress the oil further. I am accustomed to 3333 change intervals and was wondering when you did your first oil service. Thanks.

Change the oil yourself when you are comfortable with changing. 5k is a good interval and easy to remember that way. The sons Z4 uses 5k as a guide to change. Use good oil and filters while youre at it of course. OEM 5W-30 or Castrol 0W-30 (Made in Germany) recommended.

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Computer Service Mileage

My 06 Z4 keeps showing longer and longer mileage before being allowed to be serviced by the dealer. It is now showing that I can bring it in at 20000 miles. From what I understand the oil is supposed to be monitered somehow to determine when to bring it in. I asked the dealer about it and was told that they can not do the service unless you are within 2000 miles of the computers recommendation or 1

like gasoline will so this is a bit tougher duty in that respect. However the accelerating and decelerating is probably less than most of us do to our cars. Anyway even at only 20 MPH average (which is low for me by at least 10 MPH) that translates to 100000 miles between oil changes. Suggests (doesnt guarantee) that the 20k interval were getting may be ok. So I am letting my Z4 go close to the bmw

BMW Z3 E36 new 2003 Z4 owner in Tampa Florida area

Just purchased a new to me 2003 Z4 3.0i W13600 one owner miles. It replaces a 1997 328i convertible I had only 4 months before an idiot totaled it. Everything works but I could use some advice for the future Anyone know a good independent service center in the Brandon area Any local Z4 owners who would like to get together and discuss what they like what breaks and how to fix it aftermarket parts they want to show off etc. etc. larry

13k miles on it. Because it was too old for CPO at that time we got 30 days warranty on it. During that time they had to fit a new MAF sensor (check engine light started coming on regularly once I started putting some miles on it - saved about 750). Also the door seals had compressed so there was some whistling at high speed (I was being very fussy whilst having 30 days) - they replaced them but bmw

Mikey here in TX and an 03 Z4 owner for almost five years. Currently 68000 miles. Need battery Interstate has one for 149 half the cost of bmw. BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Maintenance Query for a 2003 2.5

Hello Ive got a question about my 2003 2.5 Z4. Is it possible for a dealer to tell me what Inspections have been done to the car and when they were last performed Could any bmw dealer do this I bought this car from a friend who bought it CPO at 75000 miles. When I got it it was at 84000 miles and it is just passing 91000 miles now. Service indicator is saying Ive got another 2200 miles before service

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Zechausen CDV DO IT

If are one of the many who have been pulling your hair out with frustation over how it seems to be impossible to get a smooth shift in you manual Z4 specially 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd read on. You may also be sceptical about the claims of how much things improve by removing the factory clutch delay valve and replacing with a modified one or leaving off altogether. My independment assessment is HELL

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Maintenance costs

Im curious to know how much you spend a year on regular maintenance Do you have all your work done at the dealer independent mechanic or do you do your own wrenching Do you think you spend more on your bmw than other cars and if so how much

for comparison purposes I had a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with 175k as my first car. I spent 750 in repairsmaintenance in almost 2 years. I then had a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with 60k. I spent 100 in a year and a half. Other than filters and oil one light bulb burnt out. I now have the Z4 and I cant even fix it in time for the next thing to break. 2000 spent this year minimum. yet somehow it seems worth it.

BMW Z3 E36 Oil Filter for S54

The other day I ordered an oil filter for my 01 M coupe (S54) from Bavarian Autosport. I used their web finder to spec out the filter (no part number was listed on their site). oil filter showed up with a bmw part number 11 42 1 730 389 and their invoice lists this filter as fitting M50 S50 S52. No mention of S54. This filter does not look like the one currently in the engine. The one in the engine

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Tire warning

I was driving on the freeway around a long sweeping corner the other day at 80MPH in a recommended 50MPH zone (yellow suggestion sign) and my (A) tire warning light came on. Im assuming the computer thought that the tire was aspherical and had a puncture. Is this normal or am I just pushing the car too hard in the corners Im used to motorcycling and I didnt really think there was that many Gs going

when one tire was slower than the others it deduced that the tire was low on pressure. The SUV has pressure monitors on each tire that transmit pressure to the cars computer. I believe the new Z4s are like this. So if the light comes on and then after a bit goes out then I wouldnt worry. But check the pressures anyway. As Jeff said never depend on the dealers service department Especially the bmw
