BMW Z3 E36 Do any Z3E85 Z4E89 Z4 have a locking glove box

A DIY repair posted in the E9x forum on Bimmerfest regarding the E93 glove box lock got me thinking. When you lock an E93 not only is the trunk release and central lockunlock buttons electronically disabled like my 2006 E85 but the glove box release is also electronically disabled to keep anyone from accessing the glove box. The E93 glove box door has horizontal steel pins rather than a simple latch

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 new guy - How to customize alarm and locks

HI all As the title says new guy Recently bought an 03 Z4. The manual says I can customize the central locking system per key so that it will for example lock the car when I drive off. Currently my car does not do this. I however can not find a thing in the manual as to how this is customized. As to the alarm. Well I have the indicator below the rear view mirror so I am under the assumption the car

BMW Z3 E36 z4 3.0 smg review

I got my first chance to drive a z4 on Sunday. It was a 3.0 SMG model not sure of the options it had (Susan Komen Car). Getting in my first impression was of the increased roominess over the Z3. My wife and I looked at a z3 as an option before we bought our 99m3c last year but as soon as she got into one with the top up she felt clausterphobic and that was the end of that. The z4 is comfortable inside

storage compartment is large enough that I will never use the glovebox for anything. Incidentally the reason the glovebox is so small and placed in that location is because of the knee airbagrestraint system that was placed there. Overall I like the interior. I like the clean look of the console. My only complaint on the interior is the lack of Natural Brown as an option. I would also like bmw

BMW Z3 E36 03 Z4 Key remote broken fixed what happened

Last night I went up to my 2003 Z4 popped the trunk with my key remote then before opening the trunk hit the unlock button to open the door. Surprisingly the vehicle alarm went off Hitting the key remote buttons didnt silence the alarm nor did unlocking the car with the key in the door or starting the car with the key in the ignition at least not right away. After about a minute of annoying alarm noises

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Car Key Memory 2007 M Roadster

Went to my local dealer today to have the 1200 mile break-in service. I also finished installing the alarm with motion sensor last night so I had them code it. Since I didnt do the car key memory when I took delivery I decided to have everything set during this visit. Its important to mention that this dealer did not sell me the car but provided the carkey memory and programming for free. In addition

BMW SERIES 3 E36 Door lock

If you feel a wave of ambition and have any questions just ask. I have made a few refinements to the central locking and plan a couple more for next year on my car and a Z4.

BMW Z3 E36 Z4 Window stays down as if the door was open

On my 2003 Z4 3.0 I was noticing a lot of wind noise from the passenger side window when the top and windows were up. After futher investigation I found the passenger window will not fully close. The drivers side window goes up fully but automatically dops down a few mm when the door is opened. It then returns to its fully up position after it is closed. The passenger window however is always in the

Thanks for the replies. I dont think the reset procedure would work as everything I have read states that is for 2004 model year and newer Z4s. I guess I will have to take it to the dealer. Mine is also failing to set the alarm when I use the key fob and the central lock button will only unlock the doors not lock them. Wish it was something I could do myself since the car is out of warranty.

BMW Z3 E36 M Roadster& Z4 Valet Parking Issue

Forgive me if this exists somewhere else but I tried a search and found nothing. Im a five-day member of the Z thread...picked up my Imola M Roadster on Tuesday (already at 800 miles only 400 more for break in to be over) I was trying to figure out how to lock either the center storage console between the seats or the trunk when giving the car to a valet parking attendant. In all of my other bmws you

Speaking for the coupe - no such feature exists (as far as I have been able to determine). At the end of the day with the coupe - a hook pull on the green safety release and youre in the trunk so theres no reason to protect that. The central storage is not lockable as well so no love there. Good luck. P

BMW SERIES 5 F10 F11 Double pull door handle gone

Picked up my MY2013 F10 today- When I turn my engine off it unlocks the doors so I dont have to pull twice... I only seemed to get this once I had set up that fob unlocks all doors. Anyone else seeing this

supposed to be a safety feature in the USA anyway. As noted by Griffin 27 the idea is to prevent car jacking and make it safer especially for women when stopped at traffic lights etc. The first pull unlocks the door (since you cannot do it any other way apart the central lockunlock switch which operates on all doors) and the second pull opens the door. Never give it a second thought as all the bmws

BMW SERIES 3 E36 Should I sell my car

So I have had this car around 2 months I purchased it in San Luis Obispo from a kid who works at a SLO bmw aftermarket shop after a lady lost control on the freeway and decided to take out my car with her. The car was pretty well taken care of with some minor signs of aging few dents around the car center arm rest wear and a minor crack (although not all the way through) the drivers seat. After I purchased

camber plates or go back to stock shocks. I agree with other people on this thread. The E36 is a great car. I own one But its a money pit. And you are starting behind the eight ball. Sell it to another kid whom wont care the ride and handling has been destroyed. Cut your loses. Find one owned by an old lady. Check the CARFAX record (Its not perfect - it does not record accident damage under bmw

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 E93 glove box latch repair.

The E93 glove box is unique in that it has an electrically operated glove box latch. The E93s have this system so that the glove box will lock when the car is locked but the top is down. The problem is the actuator is not a very good design. The actuator uses an electric motor and a worm gear. When the actuator releases it is possible for the worm gear to bind up so tightly that the motor cannot move.

I wish the glove box in my Z4 M Roadster locked when the car is locked while the top is down. The trunk release central lockunlock and center console buttons are electronically disabled but the glove box has no lock on it at all let alone an electro-mechanical lock. It doesnt have a simple latch either it has horizontal steel pins that retract when the glove box release mechanism is squeezed so it

BMW Z3 E36 CPO worth the premium

I ran across a pretty decent deal on a 2006 3.0si but they want a serious premium to CPO it. I bought a CPO e46 and the CPO ended up saving me about 500 in maintenance so in that case not worth the warranty. Has anyone really been saved by their CPO warranty It seems like this generation of engine is pretty solid. The reliability looks pretty solid on the z4s judging by consumer reports. Any opinions on CPO vs non CPO
