Whats odd is the window will go down like normal. But as soon as I try to have it go up it gets resistance and moves super slow. It starts out slow then gradually slows to a halt. Then it will lock and not go up or down any longer. If I wait 5 min restart the car then it will allow me to roll it down then get stuck on the way up.
Try Pulling the switch beyond the resistance point and hold for at least 4 seconds -this supposedly closes the windows without the pinch protection system.
take a few detailed pics of the add-on window shades Im not referring to the shades that come from the factory but the ones that are similar to the rear-hatch add-ons Im trying to get a set and would first like to see how the actual product looks beforehand. Thanks in advance for any help. Are you talking about ones that suction-cup to the window Is this an OEM product that someone like Tischer bmw

httpwww.trademotion.compartlocat...egoryID112995 The 21st item down I ordered the rear window & 3rd row side window kit I got mine from the dealer I got my X5 from. I paid 244.37 with tax and shipping.
I got the side window shades for my x5d when the kids are in. Easy to install and convenient. Considering Getting the 3rd row and rear shades. I just didnt care for the privacy glass look
Sorry to hear of you mishap If I were you I would go back to the dealer. They. more than likely will not replace in their service dept but will either send it out or advise you where to go. I would want an OEM window for sure.
If anyone is interested it cost 1200 to replace the rear window. They also did a software update and MP3 CDs work a lot better now.
Why are people allowed to drive with no insurance
They ordered the wrong glass. Asking them to replace with correct part without the antenna seems reasonable asking them for the other side is over the top. I dont think the antenna causes any issues. Id live with it. Sent from BimmerApp mobile app
Maybe the dealer used the part for an E53 My 02 X5 had that exact same glass - had wire lines for the diversity AMFM antenna on one side only. Just noticed my E70 does not have those lines on either glass. Make sure the correct glass is marked Guardian with the bmw logo on it.

Unfortunately it looks like you have to replace the whole window shade which will set you back about 194. See this link httprealoem.combmwshowparts.do...99&hg51&fg50 Is the fabric itself ripped or did the top bar just snap If its the latter Id be tempted to try some good glue before replacing the whole assembly. If you take your time and are careful the repair might be barely invisible unless doing
Ill try the glue route then... Just some tedious surgery... Ill let you know how that fix goes. Thanks for the diagram And yea he will probably keep on slaying them Quote Originally Posted by Matt_UKTX Unfortunately it looks like you have to replace the whole window shade which will set you back about 194. So was on a road trip this week with a few buds and one of them in the back decided to roll the window down at 80 mph and then put up the sunshade he failed to have the sunshade lock into the holder at the top of the window and the sunshade shot down to the window and the plastic piece cracked apart into a few piece. Any idea what this is going cost to have a new one put it I am going have it done
I received several quotes from different companies for around 350.00. I have the factory privacy glass (tint) option which is a slightly more expensive part.
When I had my front windows tinted to match the rears in my X5 the tint place removed the front door panels so as to cover the entire window. I asked my dealership where they sent their top end vehicles to be tinted and I went there because they worked on numerous bmws and new exactly how to take a panel off and replace it without problems. The service was topnotch and one would never know the panels were removed.

Thanks everyone for the advice. My X5 is black on black and I was thinking of of 35% all around but on the rear window (not the sides) doing 20%. I was also thinking of doing a 15% to 20% band along the top of the windshield. Also do you guys think it would look funny if I did 20% on all the back windows and 35% on the front windows I want to really do 20% all around but its the wifes car and it would make me nervous being so dark.
I am having the same problem but my problem started with the window in the front passenger door being stuck in the door frame cant get it to come up something inside the door frame is blocking the window from coming up. You have to remove the door panel to free the darn glass. bmw has the most horrible power window system than any car i have owned. I have replaced my drivers side window so many times
I have the rear climate package on my 2011 X5 premium . Get it . Dont put tint on rear window after. You will not be happy when driving at night. At least i was not on the 2007 the rear defroster lines caused headlights you see through the rear mirror to be double.
eye. But this one works nicely. Another interesting note is that initially I couldnt figure out how to remove the ring once it was snapped into the top hatch clasp. Opening the hatch using the buttons didnt cause the clasp to open. Then I notice the panel (circled in red) and snapped it off revealing a cable that when pulled releases the hatch clasp. Excellent. One last observation is that the X5
Sorry dont know. I have a 335 coupe so I only have the rear shade. My X5 had the side window shades too. Owned the X5 for 5 years and no noises. No rattle or any noise on the coupe.
