BMW X5 E70 does 2011 X5D comes with rear self leveling suspension

Was wondering if 2011 x5D ever came with self leveling rear suspension or was it only available option is 4.8i model couple yrs ago. Im thinking of lowering my X5D and both H&R and Eibach offers spring with and without the self-leveling suspensions.

it is an air spring system and does not use the shocks to increase height and is not connected to the power steering pump. Therefore the best way to tell if you have the self levelling system is to look at the rear suspension to see if you have traditional coil springs. If you do have traditional coils in the rear then you do NOT have self levelling. The best source of information is of course bmws

BMW X5 E70 Rough ride from rear suspension over speed bumps and pot holes

We test drove a 2011 35d today and felt it handled great on smooth roads and freeways but the ride for the rear seat passengers was especially harsh over speed bumps and potholes even at very slow speeds. I didnt check the sticker to see if it had active ride but it was just on the regular non-sport Michelin all seasons (55 profile). Is this a known issue or something that can be solved by either getting active ride or not getting it We currently own a 2008 E61 and love the ride.

Both of my daughters were in the back saying it hurt going

Thank you for doing some real world research and then for coming back to post your findings. Its a refreshing change from all the folks who post opinions here with nothing to back them up BTW while one of the 35is had self-levelling (aiir springs) did either have the Adaptive Drive (adjustable suspension EDC)

Also the steering of one of them seemed a lot more natural and one was slightly stiffer though they both had same tires . So that was another reason I wanted to get the window stickers to see if one was active steering. I didnt like active steering on E61 so didnt get it but CA says it is better on X5.

BMW X5 E70 Self leveling suspension with third row seating

What effect on handling and ride will this self leveling air suspension have as compared to an X5 without the third row seat option

I find it hard to believe rear air shocks wont affect the ride quality vs springs. Maybe not in cornering but I bet youd discern a noticeable difference on rough pavement (less buckingbouncing from the rear springs). I ordered mine with the 3rd Row Package because Ill be towing a 4500 pound boat up and down big mountain passes in the summer and the self-leveling suspension gives me piece of mind. I

BMW X5 E70 Question about the 2013 X5 50i

I just left the dealer from ordering a new X5 50i but he informed me the plant shut down production on the 2012 models. The plant is currently gearing up for the 2013 models and before I make this investment I would like to know what changes are being added to the vehicle. The sales rep also mentioned that there is a 1200 price increase over the 2012s. Can anyone provide any insight on this situation

I was told by my dealer that they only have 35d production slots left for March and they have no allocated production slots yet for the 2013 models. bmw did publish the 2013 X3 changes yesterday and in it they had some info about the 2013 X5 but none of it seems specific for the NA market. httpswww.press.bmwgroup.compress...temnode__2244 Quote bmw X5 M Sport Edition for particularly dynamic performance.

BMW X5 E70 From Diesel to 5.0 M-Sport Adaptive Drive Review Photos

As some of you may know I bought a Diesel in June. I was originally interested in the Mercedes ML BlueTEC and even made a deal on one. By chance while my 535 was in for service I test drove the X5 Diesel. It was a standard non sport version. I really liked the X5 on the test drive compared to the ML. It seemed much more responsive much more sporty much more fitting with my taste and style. I even thought

and is made to level the car under heavy load...The system is not built into the shock absorber. You can not adjust the the airpressure for a smother ride and it does not interact with the front suspension. Which means that the airpressure spring rate must be the same as a conventional X5 without self levelling..I have driven both and have not noticed any difference at all.. You can compare the bmw

I want to first congratulate the op You found the car you wanted and it rides the way you want it. Self leveling suspension is a complementary system to the rear standard springstrut suspension which is intended to Maintain the ride height as best possible. That means the x5 is allowed to feel the same way in terms of handling with or without additional weight. Now this notion of why the car rides

I am looking to buy a 2011 X5 Xdrive50i with Adaptive Drive & the M Sport package. you get self leveling suspension.. so unless they do a self-leveling sport suspension I see part of the sport suspension being deleted. Might just be me. I see where you are coming from. BMW X5 E70 spare tire

Hi I opted for 3rd row seating which I am told spare tire would be removed. Shouldnt the dealership provide the spare to me regardless

The self leveling suspension uses a pneumatic spring aka air bag shocks. The 3rd row option adds the air bags since the car needs to accomodate for the extra passenger load. It will raise the car up to the proper level if the rear is loaded up and it will also not compress as much when you go over bumps becuase of the extra load in back.
