BMW X1 E84 BMW X1 rear passenger door OEM sunshade

Has anyone installed these on their car The rear window and rear quarter window sunshades are easy just snap in but the passenger doors require you to install these small clips with double sided 3m tape on the window frame. Problem is they dont sit quite flush so Im a little hesitant to just stick them on if its not correct. You get the impression they arent meant to be removed one installed. Wanted to see if anyone can give me some guidance on this Thanks

Yes I have set on my 335d. Wonderful keeping the heat out during the hot summer months. It has these black double sided tape clips that hold it onto the inside window frame. It comes loose very easily if you leave the window down and driving fast. I have to keep using new Command strips to keep them on since the adhesive is one time use. Its annoying but then when it comes time to return it I dont have to worry about aftermarket tint removalcharges. Did you want a photo of the shades installed

Be ware if you roll down the rear windows all or most of the way the shades will fly off. Take a look at the pictures I snapped - looks very nice from the outside - looks like a dark tint but from the inside you can still see out. The rear manual shade was easy to install because I did not use the brackets - I just tie wrapped it to the child booster seat hooks on rear deck. How much were your bmw

I actually installed the rear window and rear quarter window shades on my X1 already. Youre right super easy since they dont use the clips took I think 1 minute for all three. They just use these slide in clips already attached to the shade that go between the frame and the window. I think its easy because the windows dont open so dont need to worry about needing anything sturdier than that. The bmw

Yup the clips do mount at an angle because there is no flat areas to mount the clips. At an angle about 15 degrees off center but the shade can fit just fine it just the temperatures and wind that weakens the bond. Just get some double side FOAM tape or Command Strips to keep them on periodically. Yes I got the bmw set because I didnt want the hassle and have ill fitting generic shades. I paid 250

BMW X1 E84 Opening doors withspecial knowledge

I was reading the owners manual about the convenient opening feature and came across the next paragraph about locking the car with someone inside... It said that you need special knowledge to open the door If you are locked inside with the remote. Does anyone know what thisspecial knowledge is Sent from my GT-P3113 using BimmerApp mobile app

Posted by skndchanzs I believe they are referring to the fact that you would need to know that you can unlock the doors by pushing the unlock button which is oddly placed on the center dash and not on the door itself like most cars or to pull the door handle twice (once to unlock and twice to open) to get out ie special knowledge. BMW X1 E84 Compass in Rearview Mirror

I did not get the Premium package in my 14 X1 and made the assumption there would be a compass in the car somewhere...no such luck. I really need a compass. Has anyone pulled a mirror off a parted out bmw or done a mirror swap to see if all the electronics work in the more upscale rearview mirror I suppose this would apply to the garage door opener also although I can live without that. BMW X1 E84 328i F30 vs N20 X1

I recently put a significant number of miles on a two courtesy F30s one a 2012 and another a 2013. The 2013 did not have any options other than met paint. I believe the MSRP was about 38K. The 2012 had the Tech Package Power Seats and a Sunroof which put it about 40400 MSRP. The base price on the 2012 was 35K. I thnk the price on the 13 was increased to account for the standard power seat. Here are

Youd have to put the front seats pretty far forward to make decent legroom for rear passengers unless they have acheived some interior packaging miracle or completely done away with a trunk this will NOT compete with the RAV4 etc. those are much larger more useful vehicles Even the Honda CRV has a sliding rear bench which allows you to adjust for legroom or cargo capacity brilliant why doesnt bmw

BMW X1 E84 Tailgate how do YOU close it

Im still trying to figure out this tailgate grab handle thing. I guess Im supposed to grab the inside of the tailgate with my hand palm facing upwards or back towards me. I can then easily pull the gate down but at the bottom then what Do you bring it down with slightly enough force to let go and it will then just close on its own or do you get it down far enough so that you can then move your hand to the outside(on the paint) and push it shut. Am I missing something

is reasonably well balance so once it is moving it will continue gently in which ever direction you started it moving. The bad design is that it is not a protruding handle but a recessed handle so it is much more difficult to hang onto once the tailgate is partially closed although a protruding handle only delays slightly when you must let go. As pointed out in this thread virtually every bmw

BMW X1 E84 The BMW X1 --- Why

Im interested in hearing from those of you that puled the trigger and those that are close. I have a 2005 E46 325i and started looking at new bmws out of a desire for a few creature comforts to ease my arthritic hands. Namely AWD (so I can stop swapping wheels and tires ) an Auto transmission and a heated steering wheel. So the X1 ticked all the boxes. I then was tempted into the new F30 3 series but

I have a 28i RWD and LOVE it. I have two 70 lb dogs and need the space in the back for them. I used to have a Saturn Vue and that was too big traded that in for a VW Tiguan and that was pretty good size wise and the x1 is just a tad bit smaller than the Tiguan. So far i havent had any problems (other than fueling - cant get it to take more than 34 tank whether I self fuel or auto fuel - I think there

BMW X1 E84 Lighting - Clasic Vs. X Line

Hey bmw fanatics So I had seen this option in the iDrive setting and couldnt see any difference in the lighting. I did some research and I had found a few post. One guy said it changed the lighting effects but I did not see any difference. Tonight on my way to the store I figured it out. It changes the ambient lights under the door handles. I added pics so you can see what I am talking about.

Yep its cool you can change the color lighting on the xLine (I dont think the Sport or M-Sport lines have the option for the white light but could be wrong). However the white light appears so dim in my opinion that I leave it on the traditional bmw amber setting. It just feels more like a bmw should with that color. It also changes the color of the ambient footwell lights as well as the door map pockets

BMW X1 E84 X1 sDrive M-Sport driving impressions from Euro Delivery

I thought I would share some driving impressions from my recent Euro Delivery of my X1 sDrive M-Sport. I currently have a 128i manual with the M Sport package. I drive at a moderate pace so here are my observations Acceleration The change from a manual to an automatic transmission plus the added torque from the turbo 4 makes the X1 feel very fast off the line. In normal mode the engine revs quickly

1500 miles I started following the fast autobahn cars up to 120 mph when my minder started screaming. I noticed a side wind can nearly change lanes for you. I went to High Plains Raceway east of Denver last week and tested up to 110 mph on the straights while checking tires temps with a ir temp gun. Then I also checked temps driving down the hwy and tread depth from using some at the track. My X1

As an American living in Italy I see all types of bmw variations with the small M emblem on the side panel and also on the rear right in place of the series numbers or sometimes on the rear left if the series number is badged. Saw a nice late model 7 series with the M logo on steering wheel front kidney grill steering wheel rims and the rear right in place of the series number. Lately Ive been seeing the European 1-Series 3 door and 4 door hatchback with the small M-Sport logo.

BMW X1 E84 X1 vs 328i

I have a question regarding which car is better... the 2013 x1 or the 2013 328i. Both cars have the same engine and transmission but the price is significantly lower for the x1. I do not understand how a car that presumably costs about the same to manufacture costs over 6 thousand less. If both the X1 and the 328i have the same internals (or at least similar internals) why does the X1 have a starting

Perhaps a better question is why the 3 is priced so much higher than the X1 Regarding the next gen of the 128 and X1 keep in mind that these will be based on a front-wheel drive platform so if you value the rear-drive approach (even in AWD applications) dont wait too long. Personally if I could order a current 5-door 128 hatchback with the I-6 and manual transmission here in the US I would think I had died and gone to heaven

BMW X1 E84 Sound deadening

Has anyone tried to put in some more sound deadening... After a long drive i noticed alot of road noise coming thru the cabin...I was thinking some sticky foam insulation like a dynamat in the rear compartment arouind wheel wells tailgate etc... I do not know if the sound was also coming thru the weatherstripping on the doors since we only have moderate sealing of the doors... I noticed my Dodge ram pick up truck is quieter at highway speeds than the X1...

Road noise. My personal Waterloo and one of a couple of reasons I ended up not quite choosing the X1 as a new car. Like Foreatwo Ive also spent some time and money insulating a Rav4 with very limited success but in several test drives I found the X1 to be a much better starting point than the Rav4 in terms of road noise. Based on decades of experience chasing road noise in hatchbacks wagons and minivans

Any chance of getting an X1 in the US with a 6-spd manual My 2006 X3 is now 7 years old and itching for a change. The X1 (either in 28 or 35 xDrive form) would be ideal for my needs.
