BMW X1 E84 Camshaft Replacement - Work Complete

Would you post if your recall resulted in your camshaft having to actually be replaced. Would love to see comments as to how well the work was done and if there have been any problems afterwards. Please post only if you have had the work done or scheduled.

This is the one related to the power brakes I had it done. At least I think I did. When I picked up the X1 at the end of the day the SA was not around. The paperwork listed the recall work however. That was at least a month ago. Id have to pull the paperwork to see if it made any specific mention of the camshaft but I dont recall anything like that. Just yesterday I had to really slam my brakes for

I think its a repair andor check to make sure brakes get vacuum boost. Ive driven my X1 s28i M Sport on the track with repeated hard braking from 110 mph and always had high g force slow down. I think the weak brake scenario is a rare but possibly dangerous event. Ill get the recall done before any more track fun.

Had my X1 in yesterday and they checked cam checked charging all the time and washed in 3hrs. They said they are looking for maybe only 30 miss machined intake cams and have some sort of template tool to measure end of cam. They said I passed and car charging right now (doesnt charge when accelerating as it should).

view the end of the cam using a mirror (back of engine) to determine which cam was factory installed. I think they used a spacer if you had the good cam but had to replace the cam if it was the other design. I think it is a pretty big job to replace the cam but the kits are in stock in the US so it only takes a couple of days to get it if you have to have it done. It is amazing how quickly the bmw

Near the end of September bmwNA announced its intention to conduct a voluntary recall on certain 2012-14 bmw 3 Series 5 X1 X3 and Z4 equipped with an N20 or N26 engine with production from May 2012- August 2013. Possible loss of brake power assist could occur due to a lack of oil supply to the brake vacuum pump from the intake camshaft. Brakes would still function however greater pedal pressure would

BMW X1 E84 2014 X1 Recal

Has anyone heard more information about the X1 Recall from bmw. It has to do with the power assist brakes running off the camshaft. Interested to hear what is out there.....

4 cyl engines only. Check the camshaft and replace it if it has a certain one

Quote Originally Posted by White94RX 4 cyl engines only. The vacuum pump is run off the camshaft

Theyre replacing my camshaft as we speak. Its a several day job. Sent from BimmerApp mobile app

BMW X1 E84 Recall Now Showing on BMWUSA

I just went to bmwUSA.com and OWNERS Tab and then RECALLS if you put in the last seven digits of your VIN number you may have an update on the vacuum pump recall.

My car goes in Wednesday (finally). Ive had three possibly four incidents when I lost power assist. I still cant believe bmw wouldnt even look at my car until the recall was officially opened. Most repairs will take just a couple hours but Im told it will take days if the camshaft needs to be replaced.

Getting my X1 back from the dealer tomorrow. Been there all week they told me on the phone tonight that they replaced the camshaft vacuum pump and re-programed the car. I had not experienced any braking issues but their mechanic said he took measurements and could tell it was out of spec. He said they replaced the vacuum pump as well in case there was any damage to the original due to the camshaft issue.

BMW X1 E84 X1 EU Delivery and Price

OK Im new to the X1 so I need some quick understanding of the car before seeing a sales guy. Thanks for any help you can provide. 1. Is X1 available for EU delivery 2. What is the wait time from order to delivery 3. Where can I find the EU MSRP. I know Jon got it somewhere in this forum. 4. Any issues with the 2 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine I drove it and I have no issue with the 240 hp engine. 5.

Well the nature of the recall is dependent on the N2026 engine...They will need to take apart the engine to install some parts connected to the cam. The oil supply via the intake camshaft to the vacuum pump could become restricted. If this were to occur the vacuum pump could fail due to lack of lubrication resulting in a loss of power brake assist. My point was that the X1 with the N2026 engine was recalled

BMW X1 E84 Love BMW hate BMW

Im currently on my fourth bmw. Theyre my favorite cars. I like the way they look I love the way they drive I like the look of the interiors and the smell of the leather on a warm day. Ive had a 330i sedan a 328xi coupe a z4 3.0si and now an X1 xdrive28i. However of my 4 bmws Ive had major issues with 3. I was stranded twice with my 330i. Two bad fuel pumps. I was without my 328 coupe for almost a month

Just got word....my brake problems are being caused by the latest recall issue. Bad cam shaft causing poor lubrication to the vacuum pump. My engine is torn apart and theyre replacing the camshaft. This is my second straight bmw with a major repair required. Very disappointing.

BMW X1 E84 Ave MPG

My dad got an X1 about a month ago. The display is showing the engine to be averaging a measly 15.5 mpg. I keep telling him to take it in to the dealership to see if something is wrong but he is a bit stubborn. Have any of you had similar experiences Is it just because it is not broken in

With about 70% city and 30% freeway getting avg 26-28 mpg. Worst I got was 23. Happy with the milage for the power and torque. Had new intake camshaft installed in Dec. (brake recall) Miliage went down a bit but now is back up. Power seems a tad better also.

BMW X3 E83 What does DISA stand for

What does DISA stand for

This is the best I can come up with. from the bmw X1 site but is applicable. To optimize the flow of power and the general standard of motoring refinement the engine also comes with fully variable VALVETRONIC valve management variable double-Vanos camshaft adjustment and an adjustment intake system (DISA). So how the Germans turned adjustable intake system into the DISA acronym is beyond me in spite of being born there. Perhaps some things just dont translate well.

BMW SERIES 3 F30 Recall Campaign No. 13V-454 Vacuum Pump Oil Supply

bmwNA sent me a letter on the brake vacuum pump recall in December but there has been no further communication since. Does any other fester get this checkedfixed recently at the dealer

I spoke with my dealer about this and they are still waiting for parts. He stated that only 0.5% will need the camshaft replaced. Since I have 13500 miles and the brakes are fine I assume I dont need a camshaft. Im glad to hear that some of these are being repaired. I had the DME update done and Im not sure if I can tell if the steering changed but it is much better that the X1 loaner I had

My X1 has been at the dealer since Monday morning. They called me tonight to let me know its ready. They said that upon inspection they determined the camshaft needed replacement they also replaced vacuum pump as a precautionary measure and that added a day for obtaining parts. They ended up replacing the valve cover as well because something happened to the original one upon removal they said. And finally re-programmed the entire car. I guess we will see how it is tomorrow.

BMW SERIES 3 E46 VCG Replacement Gone Bad

Well I was doing pretty good until I tried taking off the really brittle gaskets that were stuck to the head. Well an approximately 1x1 piece from the center spark plug gasket broke off and landed in the space between the 3rd and 4th spark plug well and slipped down to right behind the camshaft (see attached photo). When I tried to get it out the piece broke apart and slipped left and right behind

they also have attachments at homedepot for wet vacs that you can attach a smaller hose it may give you more power in a tighter area.
