BMW X1 E84 K&N Air Filter

Any one installed a K&N air filter Ive used them on my other cars and been pleased with performance.

Not on an X1 but when I had an X5 I had the oil K&N permanent filter but it interfered with the mass air flow sensor and caused multiple stalls. bmw took a month to replace out the sensor as well as the ECU it had damaged. The X5 went to NJ to have it diagnosed and repaired. I dont recommend it on a bmw. Just use the paper filters - cheap and worth not having a headache.

Tried K&N on 330xi and fouled my MAF costing a 500 repair bill. Use OEM

If the filter gets over-oiled during a cleaningre-oiling it will deposit oil in the MAF sensor wire. I use MAF or contact cleaner yearly to keep the MAF wire clean. bmw Performance intake on my 328iT came with a K&N filter..

Wow Thats good to know. I had not heard about the oil damaging the MAS. Thanks for posting Sent from BimmerApp mobile app

BMW X1 E84 Poor pick up

Hi everybody - great to be posting on this forum - i remember getting some very vauable tips on my bmw 320D earlier... After keeping a bmw 320D for a year i was very excited with the diff look of the X1 that i instantly decided to buy it. Unfortunately there was a big cost difference between the petrol n diesel model here so i opted for the petrol one (even though i knew the diff in the torque of the

Hi - thanks for your post - i agree theres a huge difference between a NA (naturally aspirated) & a turbo charged engine - in fact my last 3-4 cars were all turbo charged including the petrol C200 (kompressor) so the initial disappointment with the X1 petrol was huge. Gotten around it now - manage the meagre torque output to get the best of this rather average engine. Honestly have decided to sell

BMW X1 E84 How do I change the headlight fog and DRL bulbs on my 2013 X1

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a 2013 X1 without the Lighting Package and wanted to upgrade the bulbs in the DRL Headlights and Fog lights to a brighter white bulb. I have been all over the internet and you tube trying to find instructions on how to access the lights and do the changes myself but have had no luck. Does anyone know how and where I can locate this info so I can swap out the bulbs Any and all info would be appreciated Thanks

BMW X1 E84 Burger Motorsports N26 tune

As an attempt to address the tip-inthrottle hesitation issue and to add a little more liveliness to spirited little 4cyl engine I decided to try out the Burger Motorsports (BMS) tune. The little unit comes with male and female adapters that are used to intercept (3) signals between the ECU and engine. The install took me about 45 minutes because the directions are written for the 328i N20 engine and

spot where the solenoid controller would sit. Install is much easier without that step as you dont need to removeloosen the engine cover or route the extra cable around the engine. I can installuninstall in 5-10 minutes. I chose to route the cables under the stabilizer bar and place the control box by the air filter housing. This seemed to be the best option to protect from the elements. The X1

BMW X1 E84 JB4 for 13 X1 3.5

Hey guys I just bought a 13 X1 Alpine White X-line 2 weeks ago. Just got my JB Intake for the car gave me a few more MPG which was nice. I am looking at the JB4 for my car but it seems to be a lot of different ways to install this. My cars a lease and I dont want to splice wires going to the ecu. Does anyone have proper information on how to install this for our cars as well as what we need in order

Installed the JB4 tonight... took me about a hr to get the sucker in there.. Its overall very easy plug n play but to really make it sit in there clean n tight you have to modify the housings on the ecu to get the wires in there properly. Im probably going to have a shop re do it as I dont have the patience for it. Now on to the butt dyno results..... 1. I set the map to the first setting which provides

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Caught in a tough decision

Proud owner of 2006 325xi awesome vehicle. Best I have owned. Getting a little long in the tooth 136000 miles and gaskets should be replaced defrost fan doesnt work now things like this. So the question....repair and keep the vehicle or replace with a 2011(Keeping the inline 6). I probably have about 3000 in up keep but a new would be much more(after selling this one).....just pondering the idea....thoughts anyone.....

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Some before and after...not quite done YET

So my 01 530i has been running so good lately once I squared off some little annoyances. Only mods so far are my catch can conversion roof rack DJ Autos with an FX-R retrofit (done by me)70 Certifit front bumper(99% good fitment) installed new splash guards black kidney grills painted side moldings black with a license delete strip and I recently picked up a set of style 5s for a killer deal. Besides

I could. The magnets had a decent amount of sludge on them. I wiped the magnets down with citrus degreaser and used Purple Power degreaser on the panhosed it down then used a leaf blower to dry it I also changed the rear diff fluid. Used Valvoline synthetic gear oil 75W90. Easy as pie. Total time for both jobs was roughly 6 hours total including driving to several auto and hardware stores the bmw

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Can you hear a relay click - wipers

97 E39 540i I am told you should be able to hear a relay click if it is receving power - is this true Particularly the wiper realy in the E box under the air filter on the passenger side (in US). In my E box I have x2 purple x1 pale green and x1 tan relay. I believe the two purple are for the wipers. I hear no click whatsoever in any position of the wiper stalk. The reason I am asking is of course

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Anyone with an early E90 (06-08) that has been trouble-free

Are there a reasonable number of people that have early model year E90s that have been trouble-free Posters write all the time about keeping the car only until the warranty expires. My expectations for a new F30 if the E90 is any guide is for minimal repairs during the warranty period and hopefully nothing within the first 75000 miles. Of course wear items like tires brake pads brake disks (rotors)

repair fully). I put in a few thousand last year for replacements. If someones handy they can fix these cosmetic items (needs front-bumper driver fender driver HID glass cracked rear fender rear light cover - using red tape) 2006xi alpine white auto cold PP (Logic7) Nav. tan color Sat Radio not activating after it expired. Havent decided what car to get next Mazda 3 GT Honda Accord Hybrid 328xi X1.

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 Use your CPO warranty

Ok so my CPO warranty is set to expire in October of this year. A couple of months ago the thigh support on the drivers seat failed and would no longer respond to the switch. Fine. I took the car to an Indy in the bay area for an oil change and decided to pay for a full inspection of the car in order to find any other problems that may be covered under the CPO warranty. BTW the car is at 58500 miles.

says 12K miles for front brakes and 18K miles for rear brakes. These are factory original brakes. AGM Battery and software upgrade was done about an year ago. No leaks in the car suspension is all good. The car got a clean bill of health. ANYTHING else you guys feel I should get looked into I still have about 40 days left in the warranty. They kept the car for a week while I enjoyed a brand new X1

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 New to Bimmerfest

Hi I am new to Bimmerfest and still trying to figure out how this works. I have a 2004 525i. Needs spark plug replacement and the car battery needs to be replaced also. Dealer charges 400 for spark plug replacement. Do I have to use the dealear spark plug or any other after market splug plug recommended for my car should work. I was looking at Bosch.

I did not have to take out the cabin air filters. The first 4 plugs are easy to get too but you will need to use a 4x12 drive socket extension to get to the last 2 plugs. Pass it through the wire harness to get it into the cylinder. Dont try to do them all at once. One at a time and be careful with the coil packs.

BMW X3 E83 Sad to say but it has to go...

Just need to vent.... I purchased the 2008 X3 M-sport with 75k black on black in January of this year. It was replacing my E46 which I loved so much. We bought it because my wife took a job that requires carrying display materials to companies around our region. Our other car is a Lexus SC430 which is nice but not practical for travel. The capability of the X3 seemed perfect for this. We assumed she

the difference is 500-600 per year. Comparing that to the increase in payments for a new car (and staying with the X3 gives up NOTHING in driving pleasure) makes keeping the X3 an easy choice. It also puts the value of the free maintenance in a new light (we just had our last service under warrantee 12K miles after purchase and the brakes were replaced on all 4 wheels). I am still considering an X1
