BMW SERIES 3 E46 bi-xenon headlight adjustment

Anybody know how to adjust bi-xenon headlights for driving in Europe (from the UK) Local dealer saying that usual foils to adapt headlights are not usable as heat from lights wil weld them on to the headlamp cover... Referred me to manual but no info in there. Curses

Referred me to manual but no info in there. Curses The heat from the xenon lights is much less than from halogen headlights so I think that statement is totally wrong (I can place my hand on the xenon lights of my car when they are on they arent bi-xenon though). The problem is more to do with the type of beam. The projector beam is different from older headlights that use the headlight lens to shape the beam so it is difficult to know where to place the beam mask on the lens if not impossible. Here is an excerpt from the AA ( httpwww.theaa.commotoring_advice...al_advice.html ) Headlights If youre driving to the Continent then you must adjust the headlamp beam pattern to suit driving on the right so that the dipped beam doesnt dazzle oncoming drivers. Never go without adjusting the headlamp pattern as it is a compulsory requirement in most countries. Headlamp beam converter kits are widely available but dont leave headlamp conversion to the last minute as a dealer may need to make the adjustment. Modern high-intensity discharge (HID) or xenon headlights These cant be adapted by applying an external mask. Fortunately many feature an internal shutter that can be moved into place by a screw or lever adjustment at the back of the headlamp unit. But some designs are less convenient and the dealer will need to make the adjustment. Modern halogen-type headlamps Some of these now require external masks of such complex design that motorists struggle to follow the instructions and work out exactly how and where the mask should be applied. Check with the dealer or the cars handbook for advice especially if your car has HID or xenon headlamps. Remember to remove the converters as soon as you return to the UK. There may be an adjustment lever on UK E46s httpwww.unofficialbmw.comphpBBv...22a4123a90eb74

BMW SERIES 3 E46 Wolstentech Bi Xenon Kit Install Videos (cure for ZKW retrofit)

So I ordered my Wolstentech bi xenon retrofit kit. Came with the connector and the little converter that makes a 2 wire signal a 3 wire signal. I installed it this morning no problem less than an hour. The only problem is my drivers side solenoid is broken. Must have ham fisted it when I did my retrofit stuff. Oh well trip to the junkyard fixes that. For now the passenger side is working so that is

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Pre-facelift Xenon headlights questions about glass covers and lenses

Yes Im still in the 20th Century (which is okay with me) having recently upgraded from a set of foggy halogen originals to a set of M5 PRE-facelift xenon units. Have some questions. The xenons are of course much brighter but the cutoff isnt as sharp as Id like. What purpose beyond cosmetic is served by the two round glass covers that fit inside the front cover and sit just forward of the projector

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Questions about xenon bulbs

Okay Im in high school and just got a 2011 bmw 328i sedan. i want to upgrade my low beam headlights to a HID look. After a bit of research Ive found two ways (there may be other ways I havent heard of them though). 1. buy a converter kit with ballasts and all that confusing stuff 2. buy a bulb dipped in a blue substance which simply replaces my old halogen bulbs and appear blue or white when illuminated.

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Bought 540i on tuesday joined bimmerfest today.

One week after I decided I need to buy a car I decided I needed an e39. One week after this I bought a 2003 540i in dark gray. It has the black interior M sport 6pd stick and cold weather pack. It was on sale for 12000 with 145000 miles. I test drove it thought 145000 miles and no service records would be too much and maybe i should find a 530i. Long story short I ended up buying it for 9000 after

Ive had my 2000 540 for over ten years. It followed a 1997 540 and a couple 2002s that I have owned and driven for nearly 24 years. BMW SERIES 5 E39 Should I upgrade

OK so here is my situation Im an 18 yaer old high school student. I bought my current 528i when I was 16 as my first car. I absolutely fell in love with it. When I bought it I didnt know much about E39s or bmws at all. Once I learned about them and I knew that I was going to want to eventually get a 5406. I found out that my insurence would only go up 300 a year so I stared to look somewhat seriously

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Radiator finally blew - 133K miles

My radiator blew in Old Faithful-like style on Saturday. The plastic piece snapped in half. The ensuing geyser took out the thermostat and one of my xenon headlights. The headlight housing is covered on the inside with coolant and the headlight no longer functions. Im 1100 into the repairs and havent even addressed the headlight yet. BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 1st time BMW buyer looking at 2008 550i Qs

Hello All Im new to the bmw world so I need some advice. I currently have a 2006 Acura TL with 108000 miles on her. Its been an incredibly solid an reliable car with absolutley no issues. The problem is Im bored. I test drove a 2008 550i today and was very impressed to say the least. I initially was thinking a 535i considering my long highway drives and gas milage. But after doing a little research

even though theres much more playing to do Im going to go over some of my findings thoughts and experiences with my 2008 550i Sport Automatic Transmission (SAT). BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 What speed does it shift in Auto

Cant find this in the manual. When in sport mode auto I start from zero and hit the gas to the floor. How many RPMs should it reach in auto Mine goes way close to redline. Any comments are appreciated. Even if you are not an expert.

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Which options do you think are not worth it

Hi all Newbie here. I started looking at these forums for fun (not seriously) until my Mercedes started really ticking me off. Great car very solid but has stranded me too many times for too many silly expensive reasons. Its never a part its always just a chip or a sensor or an electrical drain. Upshot car strands me requires a jump or a tow and an expensive fix. At age 7 its still a very solid solid

I care for is the split folding rear seats which can be ordered by themselves. I dont need heated seats and you cant get heated steering wheel. As for the headlamp washers I disable them 9 months of the year because I dont want them. No (personal preference) Premium package. On the 328i this is a hugely expensive option and huge money-maker for dealers. If you feel you need luxury items on a bmw

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Because dealers are ignorant or fib...suspect first.

I keep seeing posts where people say they have a 1997 540i M-sport or a 2002 Factory original M sport. I just want to arm those who may be looking in advance that from the best I know it and if I am close but dont have it quite right I would trust Q-silver or anyone of the other experts to add to this issue whick keeps rearing its head. I do this not to disappoint some who in all honesty believed what

Weather in Phoenix was mid 60s sunny and a little breezy. I Would rather get back to driving a manual but alas none were avaialable to test -( . I took out an 10 with the same options as my current ride Bridgestone Potenza run flats. My thoughts were to focus on a couple of areas 1. run flats- are they as bad as I hear 2. 6 speed auto with paddles an acceptable compromise to a manual 3. Is it still a sports sedan 4. Trunk space Can I fit the things I normally fit in my car 5. Is it worth an extra 25k to upgrade over my existing car Run -flats I purposely drove down a road with some raised man hole covers and it also has a stretch of brick paving. Honestly the car was less jarring and more insulated than my e46 did not get a chance to explore the limits of adhesion. But honestly the car still felt as confident as my 03. So either my Pirellis are a very stiff tire or I just dont see the ride side negativity of the run flats. Transmission In normal mode I found there was little room between driving like Grandma and boy -racer it was hard to find the balance to a sporty yet still somewhat sedate mode. Switching to sport mode was much better. manual shifting with the paddles while fun was still not as good as a manual the extra gear made things a little closer but there were still times I was waiting for the Torque converter to lock up. Sport Sedan Like I mentioned earlier this car is more isolated and refined than my E46 but there is a tradeoff there. I think they are moving closer to Lexus and Mercedes ground and away from their sporting heritage. Trunk it was actually smaller than me e46 I actually brought a tape measure with me. And without folding rear seats this was a real dealbreaker. Is it worth the upgrade perhaps Id still like to test out a MT they are supposed to get one in next week. Id have to special order a car to get it configured to my specs. I like the look of the car fit and finish and the 328 still has plenty of power more than my current ride and if I decide to have a sporty weekender car(Z4) and a more sedate family sedan Id still take the bmw over a Lexus or Mercedes. Yes you really need to drive a 6 speed mt There is a difference.

Catalytic converters failing Power steering hoses leaking Cup holders failing Nikasil engine block problems in 95 V8 Oil pump bolts backing out generally pre 99 years Radiator failures. Plastic neck breaking all years AC stepper motors failing. Original Water pumps with plastic impellers failing Coolant thermostat failing Poor quality jack Electric cooling fan failing in year 98 and newer Sunroof wind noise CD player skipping in models older than 97 Older AC temperature displays failing Phones not being upgradeable without major cost or modifications AC drain lines need re-routing to stop gurgling sound Summary of model years 1996 New 4.4 liter engine. Horsepower remained the same but torque went up from 2954500 rpm to 3103900 rpm. Standard steel sunroof changed glass moonroof instead. 1997 Side impact airbags standard for front seat passengers. Navigation system became available but fitted into few cars. 1998 DSC became standard. HPS head airbags also standard and rear-seat side airbags optional. Navigation system more available. New AC control panel as well (although this was retrofitted to many pre-98 cars). 1999 Mild face-lift with scalloped headlights crystalized taillamps door scoop illumination and chrome strip on the trunk. The 4.4 liter engine receives VANOS variable valve timing and torque rises from 310 to 324. Updated side skirts without the round hole plugs for the jack. Sport package consisting of 18-inch rims blackout trim lower gear ratio and vavona redwood interior trim became available on the 740i. 2000 Features as standard that were options before. xenon lights rain sensing wipers headlight washer nozzles Navigation DSP stereo with cassette in the dash and 6 disk changer in the trunk. Sport package became available on 740iL750iL models sans the lower gearing. 2001 For the last year they added body colored side skirts and front and rear air dams (all were black until 2001) and crystal clear turn signals. Features as standard that were options before Star tac phone with mayday system 16 way comfort seats side airbags with head protection skirts.
