BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 MT owners is this how your gearboxes work too

After wanting one since long before I could even drive Im getting very frustrated with my first bmw experience and Id really like to know if what Im experiencing is abnormal or if Im just expecting too much. Do you guys find that you have to give just the right amount of throttle (no more no less) as you disengage the clutch to be able to get a smooth shift and avoid the transmission binding crunching

I find the bmw a bit harder to drive than previous MT cars but this is most likely due to the fact that this is the most powerful car I have ever driven with a MT. All my previous MT experience has been on 4cyl cars with 100 hp or less ( ). The bmw seems to react rougher to poor shifting but in general I can drive the car very smoothly without much issue. I would suggest being very deliberate with

Get rid of the CDV and I dont know if it was mentioned but the MT oil should be changed every 30k with either bmw or Redline fluids. Just changing to Redline almost completely eliminated the notchy (tough to slide into gear esp. 1st & 2nd) feel on my manual trans. Routine maintenance despite bmws efforts to eliminate is your best freind here. This is not my opinion if you read Roundel or Bimmer which

wavering I recently went ahead with the CDV delete by way of the Zeckhausen replacement as suggested by kurgan. The difference is immediately and unmistakeably noticeable. Sort of subtle but an undeniable difference and I heartily suggest trying it out so long as you know that your warranty on the tranny is null and void for all intents and purposes. I paid 55 to have it done at the bestbiggest bmw

Hi Guys Tonight I am pretty sure my Tranny itself. Its a A5S440Z (ZF5HP24) Thats in my 2000 E39 535i Sports. I drove home tonight and I had a load clunk as I took of at the lights the car was not moving just like the gearbox was slipping when it clunked and then took off. I then thought it was a dream my car would not do this to me when 2 km down the road I exited of the highway and stopped and went

Ouch what with being in Oz and all finding parts repair people... good luck ZF Australia is who you want to talk to about rebuilding httpwww.zf.com.auDealersdlr_truck.htm Youre better off IMHO with a nice low mileage manual swap but that is a lot of work and the coding can be a problem.

Thanks mate Do you have any idea on cost of a rebuild I want to keep it as a Auto for the wife. I have a warranty when I bought the car but I dont know how good it is. Do any of you guys know what model cars my A5S440Z (ZF5HP24) gearbox came in with the bmw range because I might start ringing wreckers to get a price on a low km second hand unit that fits straight on. Do you guys have a idea of how many hour it would take to do the swap over Thanks again Addam

The transmission came on E38 735i 735iL and your car If you find a used transmission you might have to do some coding and more importantly make sure the donor is
