BMW SERIES 3 F30 F30 3 Series Powered by Diesel 2.0L and 3.0L Engines Headed to the US

bmw has confirmed that diesel engines are coming to the US bmw is sending the existing single turbo 2.0L from the European 20d 3 series and an all new twin turbo 3.0L engine. Both engines will come with the 8 speed automatic found on the gas powered F30 sedan and touring. It looks like manual fans are once again left without an option. The diesel engines use the existing BLUETEC urea additive system

This is great news. I bet you bmw will offer the diesel engines in most of their models including the X3 5-series 7-series and X6.

diesel that Im missing Not trying to pan the diesel just trying to educate myself. Thanks. for a vehicle like the X5 diesel is the way to go for sure. I had the 4.8i and my current diesel is more responsive from 0-35 feels much faster and then very much the same I get 21mpg where I was getting 14 mpg on the gas V8. That 425lbs of torque makes all the difference in a vehicle this size. For the 3 series

size so they give you better acceleration and are more useful for towing heavier loads. Because they burn fuel by compression and not by use of a spark the engines are subject to higher forces. Dont let this put you off though because diesel engines are also built much tougher than petrol engines to cope with this. diesel engines more often run higher mileages than petrol engines. BMW SERIES 5 E39 E39 530d diesel or 528i petrol engine Performances.

Well i want to buy a E39 touring not sure about what engine...I want a 5 series. I would like to know if a 528i or a 530d (petrol vs diesel engines). I have 2 options from 1998 engines from both engines diesel and petrol. I know diesel has a lot of problems and expensive ones like maintenance too. But when looking for a 528i engine i also see a 193 hp as 530d. What should i look for when buying a 528i

I cant comment much on the petrol-fueled engines but I can tell you that the 99 E39 530D (184hp) has oodles of torque and pulls hard from 1700RPM to redline (5200) and will hit 200kph124mph in 4th all while averaging 7.4l100km (UK 38.17MPG) fuel economy according to the onboard computer. Just tried it last night between Cologne and the Dutch border and was well impressed...but Im a diesel fanatic so

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 scheduled maintenance free 4 years 50k mi does not include the Diesel engine

12-21-2012I took my 2011 335d into the San Jose dealer for oil change or one year routine mint and was told the diesel engine is not included in the free maintenance program. I was told thatvnormally the cost is above 200 for an oil change with filter and top off of the DFE. I can find no information in the bmw pubs exempting the diesel engine. so whats the true story. did I screw up by believing the sales and advertizing pitch bmw 135d

12-27-12 thanks for the tip time to find another dealer Ive already lined up another dealer before I even left this bad news outfit... This AM I dip stick checked the oil level I have no confidence in this dealer at all. As suspected 1qt low the work order even stated 7 qts instead of 8 qts yes I should have verified before I left the dealer service dept but you know we have been brainwashed to trust our dealer...havent we I asked for the serv mgr this time and a very young voice whom said that I must have misunderstood the service writer even though I argued with her so much about this free maint issue that she found it necessary to bring out her toddy out from the shop to back up her claim. They added the short qt without any further words... Now Im wondering if they put in the required oil for a diesel or is the gas engine oil change 7 qts and they put in the correct oil quantity for the gas engine instead. Its not like they change oil in a diesel every day...the paper work order shows the correct oil but I have a funny feeling its for the gas engine instead I wish I knew what the fill - quantity is for the gas 6 cyl engine the owners manual is silent here. does anyone one know specifically what the gas engine full oil quanty is how does one find that out and what harm if any would occur using the gas engine oil in the diesel engine if any harm or is just a matter of keeping the smog control devices in good shape this car has already had the service engine light come on at 4000 miles dealer checked it out and said it was a dirty DEF filter and has used 1 qt of oil in 6400 miles dealer said it happens not to worry now I am worrying... sorry for the long post shouldnt be necessary its a bmw

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Problem With Diesel Engine

Hi Guys My Car is a 525TDS turbo diesel E39 and I brought it with just 15000 miles in it. After driving agressively and then stop on idle the engine would run like a mechanical crusher and the whole car would vibrate. pressing the accelerator and releasing would normally run well. I read in the bmw TIS that this phenomena is common with a group of cars issued around 1998. bmw Malta could not do anything

Unfortunately my employer (bmw NA) doesnt think diesel cars are worth selling in America so I have no idea about them however Im sure you will find previous threads about this topic if you click on the button in the top menu that says Search with 2 small triangles and search for gas vs diesel or something similar. P.S. Welcome to the Fest

Hi welcome to fest. The 6 cyl turbo diesels are better be avoided (engines are M21 and M51) - they are complex fussy and very expensive to fix. the 4cyl M41 is a bit better but its underpowered. Id say get a diesel only if you get a newer car like mine where oil burners are pretty much best in the world (though not without their issues). so my advice with E36 - save yourself headaches and get a petrol one. Back then it wasnt time to go diesel just yet..

Last winter it happened

BMW SERIES 5 E34 Diesel Kerosene flush M50 engine

Hi everyone Is there any danger in using 1-2 quarts of diesel to flush the engine at my next scheduled oil change The diesel is purchased from a petrol station and then poured into the crankcase. The engine is then run at idle for about 20 minutes. Ive done this before on an E30s engine. The engine ran better but then after doing this twice I began to notice white smoke coming out of the tailpipe.

diesel and kerosene are both poor lubricants but fair solvents. what you are suggesting is an old time way to flush out accumulated sludge before there were decent detergent oils also when you could overhaul an engine for a couple hundred bucks if you Fed it up. If you engine is dirty then I suggest you do several short interval oil and filter changes. Tear apart the filters and watch for the crap to diminish. Quality oil will dissolve the sludge over time and still lubricate your engine.

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Using a 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil

In my 1998 528i the dealer has always used a conventional 15w40 oil when the oil changes were completed. Since I purchased the car I do not plan having the oil changed at the dealer and I am thinking of running a 5w40 diesel engine oil. I want to get away from the 15w since winters get rather cold here and I would like to run an oil that might work a little better in the cold temps. That and not to

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 525xi engine sounds like diesel

Greetings to all from a newbie Ive had my 2007 525xi for about a year now. The car just got its first 10K maintenance and oil change at the dealership. Recently I noticed when in idle a very rhythmic tapping noise coming from the engine. It almost makes the engine sound like a diesel with a consistent ta ta ta noise. The noise picks up pace as the rpm picks up. The car runs fine nothing from the instrument

BMW SERIES 3 E36 engine sounds like a diesel

I had my hood up and the engine running for an unrelated reason when I noticed that the engine sounds like a diesel. I do not know when this started because I normally drive with the windows down and music blasting so I would not have heard it. I have not noticed any idling problems since for has long as I owned the car. Does anyone know what could be causing my engine I would really appreciate any help.
