not a chance that theyd help. UNLESS you can get a hold of all the people that have had this problem and show that there is a fault with the engineering. Strength in numbers and a good lawyer dont know if itll be worth your time Im considering doing the same in my case (sludge) but its due to bmws ridiculous marketing scheme (15k mile oil changes) bastards When problems like these arise I think of

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 2008 535xi new cylinder head good or bad

Hi everyone I own a CPO 2008 535xi with 42000 miles on it. I have owned for a year and love the car. At some point during routine maintenance at a bmw dealer a campaign to replace fuel injector was done on the car. But two weeks ago engine started vibrating bad at red lights. I brought it to bmw and turns out when they did the campaign fix they didnt put the components back correctly which led to damage

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Advice on getting new cylinder head assembly.

All Just found out my cylinder head assembly is cooked. Anyone have a lead to get a new or used one... maybe in California I know new is best but is refurbished okay

My Brother-in-Law is a Chevy mechanic who has done bmw head gasket repair work before. He check block tolerances and determined that was okay. However we removed hte head assembly and took it to a machine shop this morning and they said it was shot. They then referd me to an individual who has a spare cylinder head for the e39 at a cost of 1350. This sounds high to me so I am looking for a source of a used cylinder head for a 2003 5251 6 cyl

BMW SERIES 5 E34 New cylinder head or 2nd hand

The cllinder head in my 1995 520i has blown and needs to be replaced. My options are to buy a new part (USD2600) or get a second hand cylinder head (USD1300). I am replacing the cylinder head on my 1993 bmw 318i. I noticed that there are two sensors that go on the drivers side of the cylinder head located under the Intake Manifold. Can anyone please help me and tell me what these two sensors are When I sent the head off for re-surfacing they took the sensors off and didnt give them back because they said they must have thrown them away. BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Cylinder head issue

Ive been told that the cylinder heads on my car need to be replaced. I drive a 2008 328i has anyone else had problems with their cylinder heads Also how long should it take to replace the cylinder heads

Usually the first step is to replace the lifters if that doesnt fix the problem then they will ship in a new cylinder head. Im having this done on Thursday ill post back in here with results. IIRC the whole cylinder head job for the ticking problem is an 8k expense right back at bmwNA so they always see if the upgraded lifters solve the problem first.

I just had this done - picked up my car last week. I think a week is reasonable my car was in the shop for 2 weeks but several days were the result of weather delays. My lifters were replaced awhile back but the loud ticking continued off and on. My SA said that a PUMA case was opened and bmwNA approved the cylinder head replacement. I beleive the cost was around 4000 - very happy that they took care of this since my warranty expired while the car was at the dealership.

I cant believe a bmw owner on this forum has no idea why a repair of this magnitude takes so long they basically are taking off the top of the motor you know how many hours of labor and detailed to work that is. Add to this its under warranty so why are you complaining On top of that a dealer stocking cylinder heads Yea right...its not an oil filter... Do you have any idea what a cylinder head is If

BMW SERIES 3 E46 New cylinder headoil consumption

The dealer replaced my cylinder head a few weeks ago (porosity problem) at 36k miles under warranty thank you. It is running great and the idle is much smoother than it was. BUT now I have oil consumption to the tune of 1.5 quarts in about 2k miles. Before the head job the rate was about 14 to 12 quart worst case between changes at 5k miles. Also the stainless tips were always nice and clean inside.

BMW SERIES 3 E46 all 4 02 Sensors throwing codes.. cylinder head removal..

okay so i have gone through hell the past week... started by me REALLY messing up and breaking a spark plug in my engine... I knew it was beyond me to fix so i had it towed to a shop. let me skip all the drama and get to my questions... 1.) how much damage could happen if the car was started and driven a short distance with the 1 ignition coil and boot unplugged and off the spark plug (the tech did

BMW SERIES 3 E46 2001 E46 - m54 Engine Cylinder Head Oil Leak

All Replaced (DIY) spark plugs and noticed about 38 worth of oil in the second port. Dealer informs me that it is a known problem there is a bmw Service Bulletin that advise to replace the head Cover. He then drops the bomb that it will cost 2500 labor . Anybody else have this or can advise of other options Will it hurt to run like it is if the leak is small Will it get worse Anyway...any advice would be greatly appreciated Karl

I replaced the plugs when engine was cool....tightened down at 30NM. The bmw service manager explained that because the oil was ONLY in the 2nd plug port....that was from a porous cylinder head and is a known issue with a bmw Service Bulleting to replace the entire head. My question really is.....if the leak is slight can I live with this condition or will it get worse down the road and I will have bigger issues. Karl

Hi I have a broken cylinder head Cover bolt on my 2006 e60 530i I know this is a common problem that bmw NA is not owning up to. I have read several articles regarding this issue. BMW SERIES 5 E34 A Question About Cylinder Heads

BMW SERIES 5 E39 bad cylinder head - repair options

Ive been dealing with an intermittent overheating problem for the past 6 months and after bleeding the system a few times over that time I finally took it to a mechanic for a proper diagnosis. Well they told me that there were no external coolant leaks and that more than likely I have a damaged cylinder head - cracked warped who knows. They told me the head (2.8 6cyl) would have to go out to a machine

I would request a more detailed diagnosis than more than likely where is the head leaking What does a cooling system pressure test reveal A cylinder leakdown test should also pinpoint the leak. Is the shop a bmw specialist If the coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber there would be excess pressure in the cooling system and dissolved combustion products as a result of the leak. There might

It cost me 8k to have the cylinder head done on my 2000 528i. Replaced with new casting from bmw. Although the guy did an excellent job and the car runs perfect I think that for half the money I would have just replaced the motor with one from a wreckers.

When a cold engine is started the computer operates it using what is called idle control strategy. Starting and ensuring a smooth idle on a cold engine is the hardest thing the computer ever has to do. Your engine starts and idles properly on cold start.
