BMW SERIES 5 E39 Rear door vapor barrier leaking on floor board.

I have the rear door leak issue that seems to be very common with the 5 series bmws. I get a water in the rear floor mat area every time it rains. I was gearing up to pull the rear door panels and reseal them. Looking over the doors mainly the bottoms I dont see where the water is meant to drain. I dont see any drain holes. I thought perhaps there was a hole in the center of the two drain plugs located

BMW SERIES 5 F10 F11 Right rear door opens by itself

Driving along this morning on the freeway and all of the sudden the interior lights go on and I hear the chime. Fuel tank was low so figured it was just a reminder but when the lights went on I was confused. I looked down on the dash and my right rear door was open. I drove a good 20 miles before it unlatched itself. Nobody was in the backseat. While the secondary latch held it shut I think its kind of bad that this could happen.

I dont know what causes it but this has been happening on bmws for years. Ive read on this board about people having it happen on their X5s and E60 5-series. It happened on my 2007 X3 about the second day I got it. I drove over an expansion joint and the right rear door popped open but it never happened again.

BMW SERIES 3 E46 How do I Remove rear door kick panel from 2003 325

How do I remove the drivers side rear door kick panel on 2003 325 I have it loose except the area around the tweeter speaker.

Quote Originally Posted by geary.brown How do I remove the drivers side rear door kick panel on 2003 325 I have it loose except the area around the tweeter speaker. Sounds like you are talking about the lower door panel. The door panel is one assembly. Pop out the window control button and inside you will see a torx head bolt remove it. Then remove the upper door trim and under that are a few more screws. There are also two screws that hold the door handle to the outer door. Remove the covers and you will see the torx screws in there too. I believe they are all T-25 if memory serves (or T-20) Once all are removed the door panel will come loose by pulling near the bottom working your way up. Then lift slightly to release the top edge from the tabs. Here this is better with pics.... httpwww.bmwgm5.comrear_Window_Regulator.htm
