AUDI TT Question about Cylinder Head

I need to replace my head which is a AWP.... Scored a good deal on a AMU head will this thing fit without a problem I know AWP heads have VVT but have read that the VVT solenoid can be swapped wo any problems...

Quattro engines 2000-2003 (AMU Engine code) had just a manual cam chain tensioner. FWD engines for 2000 (ATC) also had manual cam chain tensionser In 2004 for Quattro (BEA Engines) and in 2001 for FWD (AWP Engines) they went to an adjustable chain tensioner and rudimentary variable valve timing (and this is supported by wideband O2 sensors and other differences). You can run either tensioner with either

AUDI TT TB Claims my head

So a week or so ago my i was downshifting taking an exit off the highway when my 2001 audi TT 180Q started to shake.... i threw it out of gear and hit seemed it would only shake between 2000-3000 rpms.... a quick trip to the mechanic and he diagnosed it has a bad flywheel. I figured that i would get the TB done being that it was at 80k already.... so mechanic pulls the cover off and noticed the cam

so after this 3 month long apocalypse. I finally put the audi back together and gave her turn. well she started. however things didnt turn out ideal. I feel like the head i bought from the guy had some bent valves in at least one of the cylinders. 1.The car remains at idle at 1000. 2.No gas pedal it doesnt do anything. 3.car idles aggresively the engine shakes and is felt through out the whole car.

motor. AMU head i bought was in poor condition though. ill do a compression test to see if all cylinders are firing. if compressions good then ill re do my timing. compressions bad im going to save up and buy a whole new amu engine. and drop it to my new tranny. sigh I have a feeling i bent a valve on the install somewhere whether installing the head or lining the time marks up. i never even attempted

I had my ASE master technician school teacher look at it. we feeler guaged it vacumn chambered it as well. one cylinder held only 5psi vacumn so that could be my bad cylinder. im at school right now borrowing the compressiontester and hopefully the scanner. my ignition harness as well is full of cracks and doesnt look like its in good condition. should i tape up each crack or replace the whole thing

compression test results all holding around 150psi. waiting for a partner to test my first stroke compression. scanner results cam and crank out of position. your so smart cincy. I got her to run beautifully well beautifully when off a tooth. going to re do timing cylinder leak test first stroke compression test then i will update.

It has a miss and I changed the coil pack cause I know those go bad a lot on these cars. It didnt fix the problem and now Im not sure what the problem is. I heard it could be a wiring harness issue or ECU issue. Any ideas

AUDI TT Lost compression in two cylinders

So while driving my car I lost a lot of power and the check engine light started flashing. I limped it home and had it towed to the dealer. Assuming it was the coils because I got a code 300303and 304. (misfire codes). I bought new plugs and coils from the dealer and changed them int he parking lot. ( hey its x-mas Im trying to save money). Started the car but its still ran like crap. So I had the

AUDI TT 8N 2000 Audi TT Possible Piston Rings Problems

I have a 2000 audi TT Turbo. I recently replaced my head gaskets & had the cylinder head rebuilt. After i installed the cylinder head the car drove fine for about 1 day. After a week of having this done the car started to smoke out of the tail pipe. The smoke smells like oil & oil drips out of the exhaust. It smokes & drips a lot of oil from the exhaust. Im thinking that the piston rings are worn or

AUDI Headers on B7

Ive seen a few posts that mention headers on these V8s. Ive got an 2005.5 avant with AWE cat back and was debating headers. The big concern is cabin noise. Are they much louder inside. Worth the noise I do lots of 6-7hrs drives and would hate to take away from the refinement of the inside of the car. I am also going to look at the engine internals- pistons cams etc to try to get some similar numbers to rs4....maybe Im dreaming

Due to a modified camshaft drive reduction ratio the camshaft adjuster has 25 teeth for the chain drive as opposed to 30 teeth in the basic engine. In the more highly stressed high-revving engine an additional oil-air heat exchanger is used to minimize the oil temperature even at high engine load. This additional heat exchanger is operated in parallel with the heat exchanger via a thermostat. audi

AUDI TT New TT Owner... Couple s and Advice Needed

Hi everyone Ive owned nothing but BMWs since I was 16 (Im 23 now) but I just took the dive and bought my first audi a 2001 audi TT Quattro Coupe 225 with 82k miles on it. So far I absolutely love the car however there are a few issues with the car and I was hoping I could get some input on the basics -What are some of the best places to order parts for these cars -My speedo isnt working but I did the

AUDI TT Time belt jumped alot of teeth...

This goes back to the time belt scratch killer revealed thread. if you havent read that yet start there to follow the story. When my Cam sprocket timing is lined up my crankshaft is at 7 oclock when it should be at 12. The reason for the big teeth hump was because of the bit lodged between my timebelt cover and crank sprocket. The car never started and the belt never snapped. just a excessive load

when my cams are aligned my 1st cylinder is at the bottom. no one moved it by the cam i was the only one who ever turned the engine. when i turn by the crank its very very difficult the belt even slacks. A valve kit is 300 but a guy said he will sell me his whole AMU head including the valves for 300. but if my cylinder walls are damged this will probably be the end of my TT. what a lame way to die.

AUDI TT 8N 2001 FWD TT engine rebuild w BT

Ok guys I have most of the parts here or are in transit. The motro has been pulled stripped and taken to the machine shop. I am aiming for 400hp at the wheels and would like to venture out from there after tuning and reliability have been established in the new engine. Ok I know you are waiting to here specs so here we go.. Wiseco pistons and rings- 8.51 cr standard bore Eagle rods w ARP rod bolts

AUDI TT CHANGE YOUR TIMING BELT

Ok I am telling you guys believe the hype My 01 TT 225 just turned 66000 and sure as SHI the belt broke. The car is currently in the shop and has been for a day and a half and I am hearing that I have bent valves and may need cylinder heads as well. The damage and the estimate is yet to be determined. This couldnt have come at a worse time too I recently like last month became engaged and am having

AUDI TT Its that time sadly..

Driving from Knoxville TN back to Huntsville AL and my TT decided it was definitely and almost instantly time to replace clutch and related components. I was hoping to get opinions from anyone that has put in a Steel Single Mass Flywheel. Also does anyone have part numbers for axles Im thinking that I may as well refresh the drivetrain while Ive got things taken apart. Thanks in advance Thinking Spec Stage 2 (anticipating for future upgrades) and Spec Steel Single Mass Flywheel.

I met E85 in the last post. only piece you need to suport big turbo is rods which can be done on a lift no engine removal. Im currently collecting parts for my 2.0 stroker. uses upgraded rods tfsi crank and trigger window 83mm pistons with a 9.51 compression. top end is getting an 98 a4 AEB head(bigger intake ports) supertech package that can rev to 9k tops and possibly cams maybe not. before i go big turbo im trying to setup a new system that will use a gas tank in the trunk i fill with ethanol manifold design will have 2 injectors per cylinder 1 for gas 1 for E85. gives me 105 octane cheaply and easily switcheable. sadly though i only have the top half of this build done spent most my money on soundproofing audio at the moment...

off and swap pistons and rods but the same cant be said for the crank. Im 99.99% sure the flywheel bolts directly to it which youd have to take the transmission off to get to it. Which when I had my transmission off I had everything off the motor one would need to be able to pull it out other than the ac lines because I had to angle it down under the car to slide the transmission off. So just putting

steps on stock rods or with a smaller turbo. Either they will increase torque enough to snap rods or just not be helpful with a smaller turbo uppgrade unless otherwise noted. RACE GAS This a great thing to use to extract the most power out of your car. The higher octane will allow you to increase the psi andor timing (some turbos are maxed out on 20-24psi or so). The higher the octane the better.

AUDI TT 8J Glove box fixed in 10 minutes.

So Ive had the broken-off glove box handle in my car for almost a year. Ive read various fixes including some guy on eBay who sells a machined metal insert for 100. The bottom pivot for my glove box latch broke off so the latch is no longer held in. Heres how I fixed it. 1. Remove lock cylinder from latch. Be careful you dont lose the springs and tumblers. AUDI TT Time belt scratch engine sieze

long story short replacing vc gasket put it all back together didnt have much patience with the plastic time belt cover. on my start up it began as a nice cranking sound then some a weird clonking and then my engine wouldnt even turn over just the starter my time belt didnt snap but it did get a gash in it and needs to be replaced. im going to start the engine without the cover and just see if i can

Joe if the timing belt did jump you will end up with a cylinder head full of bent valves. Check to see if you left a vacuum hose off if you are hearing a hissing noise or it could just be you secondary air injection pump running at start up. I would check the timing marks to make sure they are lined up correctly. Is it possible that the battery ran low while working on the car As far as leaving your

Thanks alot guys really do appreciate this. Been a rough week. Right now im trying to see if my college will be willing to take the car in they got lifts and stuff that would make this job much easier. Im going to index the cams as soon as possible. Heres a couple pictures to show you all whats going on. As you can see where the time cover was placed incorrectly it somehow dug into the middle of the

AUDI TT Damage of time belt jump

long long story but after my dad dropped a bit in my time belt cover and unaware of this and started my engine i jumped my time belt to the 7 oclock when should be at 12 oclock via crank shaft pulley. pulled the head off and heres the damage middle intakes are bent and permantly open the rest seems okay but im no mechanic. plan to replace head with another amu head for 300 unless you have one cheaper.

well i was planning on having a vacumn steady next to the cylinder when its at TDC while sanding them down and im going to use a abrasive pad to dont think sand paper would make it alot worse. i wanna make this nice in shiny so if i ever sell the car ill have a picture of the nice reconditioning. as for my old head i was planning on porting out the intake and making the valv openings a millimeter bigger

AUDI TT Update on my Timing Belt Falure - and more Questions

Just got the head off and no surprise it appears all 8 exhaust valves are bent. Every piston has marks from both exh. valves however not marks from the intake valves. Is it possible that the intakes survived this Anyway will know soon once I have the head looked at. Good news is that no valves broke so the cylinder walls should be ok. Now if I can impose on the members with another set of questions

Look on the bright side - the timing belt is a lot easier to access with the cylinder head out of the way. Hah Replacing clutch too How difficult is that task How many miles did it last Good luck

AUDI TT 8J 07 Z06 going TT

Bout to start buyin the goods and Fabbing a Twin Turbo set up for my LMB Z06. leaning towards going with two CompTurbo Ct43 7076 ball bearing oiless units. .96 AR. And a 430 inch ERL motor. AUDI TT Coolant Leak

Trying to figure something out....If i dont have the car on and i put coolant into the car and it runs right out is it possible that its leaking from the water pump...Or does the car need to be on before it reaches the water pump

Check your coolant flange. Its located on the driver side of the cylinder head and also contains the temp sensor.

AUDI TT Timing belt question

We are purchasing a 2002 TT coupe today w150000 miles on it. Someone else was going to purchase it and replace the timing belt immediately but they backed out of the deal. Speaking with the salesperson he said when their mechanic looked he could confirm that the belt has been replaced at least once before. The prior (single owner) had pretty good service records up until around 100k but dont really

We have a 2000 A4 turbo and unfortunately the t belt broke. It cost us over 6000 (Canadian) to replace the cylinder head and parts. Not worth gambling with. We have over 200000 kms on it.

AUDI B7 under 5 seconds

Hello everyone Im new to the forums and am also a new owner of a beautiful black 2006 S4. I absolutely love the car. Ive been reading around and just have a pretty simple question. What would it take to get my car to do 0-60 in under 5 seconds I know that the RS4 and the S4 use the same engine so what exactly sets it apart Thanks

S4 and RS4 dont use the same engine they actually have alot of differences they just share the same displacement. The s4 has 40 valves the rs4 and s5 have 32 valves compression ratio is vastly different These come from the audi 4.2-liter V8 FSI Engine Self-study Program its S5 motor vs RS4 but theres even more differences between RS4 and s4 The main technical differences between the base Q7S5 engine

AUDI A4 B5 Upgrade your braking feel in 5 minutes for less than a dollar

OK this is a simple mod you can make quickly and easily. Took me five minutes and cost me .61. Hows that for economical It is not an earth-shaking change and wont be a substitute for Alcon 6-piston calipers and 355mm rotors at those club-day track events. Background - when you hit the brake pedal you probably notice a little bit of dead travel at the very beginning. Why Because the brake master cylinder

AUDI A5 8T 8F Problem with 2.0 TFSI engine

Hi I have an intention to buy an audi As long as I know the new versions of audi (Q5 A4 A5) usually have 2.0 TFSI engine that uses directly fuel injection technology and the engine increasing pressure is very well acceleration is also good saves fuel. But it is also said that the car have high-pressure fuel pumping error. I am not a master in this field so I dont really got it. Could anyone tell simply me what that error is and is it serious Thanks.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 Advise on cylinder block needed. Please

Ok. I am planning to get a car with AMU 1.8 on a B6. The owned stated that 4 piston rod broke. I searched around for an engine and they run from 1500-3000. So i thought what if I just replace the block if it is messed up at all. So my question is Can I use any 1.8 block Dont they only have different heads

Are you sure its not an AMB I have 2002 audi a4 and it has an AMB. I know that 04 used the AMB Motor also. All the info I can find shows that AMU is a longitudinally mounted motor(appears to by a TT motor). Are you getting this off the head possible a broken timing belt. I would have the VIN run by the dealer to see truly what motor it is suppose to have. Also if it truly is an AMB I believe that most of the parts are common between that and a late VIN(2001) AWM.

AUDI A4 B5 1998 mods and supercharger questions

Hello everyone this is my first post because i recently got a 1998 a4 in great condition and am looking to make some performance upgrades. To me it seems to be that most talk about improving the performance on a 2.8 is to get a supercharger if you want real results but i am wandering what other options are out there to get some more power.
