AUDI A6 A6 2.7T Ignition Coil Caught Fire and Melted

Hi Folks Just thought Id share this with everyone to see if its happened to anyone else. My 04 A6 2.7T was sitting in my garage I had just washed it and was giving it a clay bar treatment when smoke began to waft out from under the hood. The key was in the ignition which was in the off position. I lifted the hood in a panic and the coil pack on cylinder 5 was literally flaming. I extinguished the fire

We can help you get the parts you need to repair what has happened. I havent heard of this happening myself but others should chime in on that. The 3 wire housing should have this pn on your others to match up should be 4D0-906-232 for 16.86 each. The wires with terminals factory crimped on the ends are 4.59 each and youd need 2 of them. They are a 15 inch long wire with a factory crimped terminal

Thanks for the speedy reply Jeff but I gotta ask...did you even look at the picture in the post of the burnt 4 WIRE connector I understand youre trying to help the members of this forum and in exchange youll get some parts business out of it. Thats fine but if you dont provide accurate information youre wasting everyones time. Thats why were here...to get answers. The correct audi part number is 4B0

Im sorry I did make a mistake on the yearmodel 2.7 engine. I saw the up to 02 APB 2.7 that has the 3 wire and the 02 and on BEL 2.7 does use the 4 wire. Id have caught that if I didnt just skim over the pictures. I did look at the pictures but clearly not in enough detail. You are 100% correct in providing correct info my apologies to all involved on this one. Thanks for keeping me on my toes IPStevieB

AUDI A6 which vendor on ebayamazon for ignition coil

My engine light is blinking and car is vibrating when I drive. Got the codes checked and it read cylinder 1 and 6 mis-firing. Is it true that 1 coil caters to 2 spark plugscylinders Mine is 2000 A6 2.8 L engine. I was thinking of replacing the ignition coil pack and wanted to know which vendor on ebay aor amazon is reliable If anybody has bought it before and can suggest it will be great help. Thanks

If your CEL is blinking the manual tells you not to drive the car. Misfires can dump gas into the catalytic converters and ruin them. I believe the 2.8 engine like the 2.7T has one coilpack per spark plug. If it was me I would use oem coilpacks. I got 186k out of the originals before they failed (same symptoms you have) and they were replaced under a recall warranty. You might check with a dealer and ask if your car was recalled for coilpack issues.

AUDI A6 C5 2000 a6 2.7t Plugs and Coil Packs

Hey everyone Im hoping I can get some help here since Im new to audis. I have a 2000 a6 2.7t and I am experiencing sputtering at low rpms. I have misfire codes for cylinders 1 4 and 5. The code is P0300 designated to those specific cylinders. I purchased spark plugs and coil packs from autopartswarehouse and installed them. The sputtering did not go away. I took it to a local shop that specializes

the problem you are having is the ignition control module on top of the airbox. there is two of them and it will be the one closest to the front of the car.

Well the car does not hesitate to start at all and it has never not started for me. It is the sputtering at low rpms that is the issue. Ive gotten suggestions that it is the spark plugs ignition coils but not the ignition module at all. Just curious why you think it may be that. Thanks.

J Walters thanks so much. That was exactly the problem and it was fixed right away. I went through so much BS and the auto shop gave me an estimate of 1600.00 without even mentioning the ignition modules so I am pretty happy right now Magiben thanks also for your input. You guys are the best on here. I am not sure if we are allowed to say where we got parts from so PM for cheap and working audi parts. The modules wouldve cost me roughly 200.00 each and I got them for 80.00 each

AUDI A6 New guy to audi (help)

AUDI A6 Audi A6 wont start

I own a 1999 audi A6 Quattro. The other day I went to start it up and all I could hear was the starter trying to start the car . All of the lights and electronics work when I turn the key on but when I turn the key it trys to start but never does . It has about 85000 miles on it so I was wondering if there was something I needed to replace that usually goes bad about now that is preventing it from starting Thanks G

first off if your CEL is on you absolutely have a DTC. Unfortunatley generic scanners can not read all of the audiVAG codes you need a VAG-COM to read all of the codes. There is a list on here of members who have them. You could purchase a cheap one on ebay and just ask how to set it up. Quite a few guys have them for about 30 bucks. Or you can buy one from ross-tech.com for 200. I have the ross tech

AUDI A6 C5 1999 Audi A6 misfire

I have a multiple misfire and misfire on cylinder 2 and 4 I am starting to get crazy with my local audi repair shops. Here is what happened. First problem the car doesnt start. the garage change a lot of things to fix compression and cam timing off. The car runs well for about a month. Then I got a misfire on 1 and 6. He recalibrated the timing. Car runs Ok for about 2 weeks Again multiple misfire

Yes They were changed recently. I doubled checked with probe to be sure there is fire on the terminals and yes it there is. The spark plug are new. However still get misfire on 2 and 4. I start to suspect the wire between the ACM and the ignition coil. I found this procedure to be followed according to an audi tech note httpww2.justanswer.comuploadsHi..._ACE_-_101.pdf I will keep you updated on what I discovered. Cheers Didier

AUDI A6 C5 04 Audi a6 Random Misfire

I recently changed my alternator battery spark plugs & coils. All brand new and oem. I even got a vacuum leak and compression test. And both test has passed. I or my friends and euro performance in Clifton NJ cant seem to figure it out. Can anyone help us out or give us any other ideas to approach this task. It is an 04 audi a6 2.7t s-line. P.S. it doesnt have an icm because it is a BEL engine to get that out the way.

There is no ignition control module on bel engines which is engines from 2003 and up. Push down coils have them integrated into each one of them. The firing order is ran by the ecu and the icm is integrated into the coils. I think i have a short to the grounds of the coil wires. Becuase the only wire that all meets up into to one wire from the coils is the ground. Any comments

Engine light is on and will flash at idle but usually turns solid when driving. Is this a possible head gasket issue Or maybe coil Pack Im not savy on troubleshooting problems but i can usually replace the part that needs to be done. Any ideas where to start on fixing this

Willkommen to the forums P0300 is random multiple misfire. most common causes are MAF problem vac leak or ignition coil check vac lines for integrity it only takes a little crack to cause issues clean the MAF sensor get with someone that has a vagcom and monitor ignition coil and cylinder firing to check if it is the coil.
