APR has the option of putting the ECU in stock mode. While its stock mode program is not exactly the same bits as the audi OEM tune to my knowledge no one can tellany difference bothperformance wise and measured. If you can see yourself going past Stage 1 (usually used to refer to a setup where the only engine mod is the reflash or chip) APR has other parts i.e. downpipe cat-back exhaust and intercooler which some believe are tuned to its software for a more complete tested package.

My favorite chip is Doritos Seriously though Chef has set up a n00b thread with frequently asked questions. There are links to a couple threads discussing the various chip tunes. httpwww.audiforums.comm_547598tm.htm At 2000 miles you should be out of the break in period however I would suggest waiting until your first oil change at 5000 miles or changing it yourself before chipping (if you do it pre-5k).
Thanks BAMF. Ill definitely look at the diverter valve when I cross that road. Im just a little disappointed that the A3 didnt come with LSD stock and Im going to try to have it installed before I get chipped so I can dump the clutch right after 1k miles and put more down without spinning too much. I heard that you can spin the wheels on stock (no chip) a3 pretty easily as it is already. I cant wait
to ask your chip dealer before purchasing 1) How much do they charge for labor (kind of a joke all they do is hook up to your OBD port and load the software). The software itself should run you about 500 but labor will be an additional cost. 2) How much for additional programs You should really consider getting the stock tune loaded along side your 91 or 93 tune in case you need to go into the audi
In regards to APR they charge the stated price.....no additional labor. The chip for the A3 2.0T is 599 and 149 for an additional program (like stock). Also their R1 DV is 149 installed which is why I said for roughly 900.........the only other thing they will charge is sales tax. If the dealership reflashes your ecu APR will re-install for free and also if they come out with new versions of the software
Did you check with Penske audi (West Covina) They do it as part of their STaSIS package but I dont know if theyll do just the chip. [smicon_cheers.gif]
Quote Rusnak in Westlake has a close bond with Neuspeed and will basically look the other way should anything go wrong. But they dont actually Flash themselves. I use these guys too - and they are pretty cool. When you say look the other way I agree thats true about having the chip but should things go wrong its really not up to them. I dont have a lot of faith that audi wouldnt still try to blame
250hp only gets 169 to the wheels huh Quattro must really be a drain on efficiency in the a3... Doesnt the 2.0T dyno over 200hp to the wheels(chipped)

Not to mention the A3 had DSG whichmade it impossible to getnumbers from WOT.

so...first impression....neuspeed chip is sick. the throttle response is lightning quick and you feel the car pull like crazy. I am a little concerned about my mileage. I went thru just over a quarter tank in about 60 miles. Anyone with chipped A3s have any info about mileage after chipping It could be because I kept punching it to feel the power. My dash was reading pretty steady average of 20 mpg.
Just make sure you have a service advisor that you feel you can trust to discuss this with. I think I just read a service notice sent to audi dealer service centers re how to tell if a car has been chipped. There seems to be some flags and bits they can read that indicate whether it has been chipped or has been chipped before. (I forgot the source but I read this recently and it was a scan of the notice.)
Im looking to chip my 07 A3 2.0T DSG and I had a few questions Which is the best chip How much will it cost me I live in socal wheres the best place to get it installed How much could the dealer possibly care since my car is a lease and how much trouble could I get in And what are the Pros and Cons of a chip I dont have all the answers to be sure but here is my input. Im not sure at all about questions
Yes I did take the lazy route - Just didnt find a straightforward this is probably the best chip for the a3 in any of the threads or atleast i didnt see. Thanks for the input ill probably do some more indepth research and pray my stealership isnt about it which chip do you have chef
I recently got my A3 2.0t flashed with GIAC. it makes a world of difference. The downside is your dealer might erase the program or find out you have it chipped if something bad happens and void your warrenty. The plus side is it make the car so fun to drive and I thought it was fun to drive stock. I went to Group5 motorsport in San Diego they have always been nice to me and did a fine job with it. Good luck Dave
Quote ORIGINAL a3_yuppie ...with Revo its a separate device which plugs into the OBDII port. Thats why I went with APR. Chef has one. Go bug him if you ever need to bring your Revoed car into the dealership What Oh yeah I do have the controller and would help you turn it back to stock if you want but you have to come to me. BTW I chipped my car just prior to the 5k mile mark and it has been better since. Im now at 38k miles and the car is running very smooth. Cheers
increase is as much for gasoline and most people will tell you they probably get worse mileage after chipping because of the fun not the chip itself. My dealer has not been able to electronically detect my chip they did notice it on the test drive but the tech gave me a nudge nudge wink wink. If the dealer formally discovers the chip the warranty for all effected parts is basically void because audi
Quote ORIGINAL mattrazzo I have APR stage 2 (3 turbo back exhaust) and get 27 mpg at 65-75 mph on highway but usually around 24-25 mpg because I usually drive 70-90 mph. Its through Boston traffic so its a lot of slow and speed up so it kills milage. As to dealer last time I took it in they were going to a flash upgrade for the flapper valve and my tech called me and asked Is that car chipped I sadi yes and he oh ok. I was going to do a service flash but I wont if youre chipped. I asked if I needed the upgrade and he said No. If youre chipped you dont have this issue. So he was cool about it. No issues. Lets be claer. I drive my car for enjoyment not economy so your milage will definately vary if youre going a constant 65 on the highway. What dealership do you goto Im looking for a mod-friendly dealership. I usually take mine to Prime (used to be Clair) audi in Norwood or audi of Nashua.
2.0T- YES get the chip for the 2.0T it is an amazing difference and totally worth the money. Its not like your loosing half your MPG because of this chip. After a week of getting my chip I got around 330 miles on a full tank and I drive pretty hard. I was debating between exhaust and a chip and a friend of mine put it this way. Exhaust is a reward to the people around you who hear it and the chip is a reward to yourself and I couldnt agree with it more. 3.2- If your loaded and you have the money to blow why not but its not something to save for and get because its not going to be a huge performance upgrade. It might get you better gas mileage on the freeway but not in the city. If your looking to get better gas mileage I dont think the chip is the way to go. For performance YES. I know there are many other chips for different cars that do give better gas mileage but unfortunatly I dont think they offer one for the A3.

Its a tragedy that a car with such a hideous wing is so damn fast. Even with a chip - youll still be staring at the rear end of that thing and watching it fade into the distance. My friend has an M3 and still gets dusted by tuned STIs all the time. Regardless get the chip - youll be amazed at how much kick it will give your A3. And next time the STI rolls up smile and be comforted that at least your car has a classy eye-pleasing body (sans uber-wing).
It is not required to upgrade your DV but is strongly recommended. Eventually the stock diaphragm in theDV will tear once you chip the car I like to think of it as a requirement to replace the DV when chipping a car to avoid issues in the future and dealing with a failed DV. As for the R1 it is designed for the 2.7T in the S4A6. Check out Forge most people on the forum use their DVs. Here is a link to the A3 httpwww.forgemotorsport.comconte...roductFMFSITV
Every chip tune for the A3 does require access to the car or the ECU. You can go to an authorized dealer and have the software uploaded via OBD port or some tuners will allow you to remove the ECU from the car and mail it to them. Theoretically theres no reason why you couldnt do it yourself with a laptop and USB-to-OBD cable Im sure the reason the tuners wont let you do this is because they know someone would eventually crack the license key and then no one would pay for it.
Thanks that stalk is well hidden. My A3 is but a few days old (to me) and already I want the APR chip I used to run with the miata guys but it is nice to be here now.
Ive been pretty protective of my car as well but despite all of my efforts some idiot put a nice long scratch along the passenger side of my 7-month old A3. I did some quick research as well and came across paintscratch.com. Let me know if you think it works as well as they claim. Also on the U.S. TT Auto Club there is another resource mentioned but it seems that the focus is on rock chips on the hood.
No problem. Information is what this forum is about but we are very skeptical of a newbie coming on and posting about AWESOME new products. There is no credibility there at all. I would argue that you are either totally excited about your new chip tune and swept by the salesman that hooked you up or you are somehow in a position to obtain gain from people using this product. Personally Ive seen cars with REVO APR GIAC and Neuspeed tuning. Each is a little different and all perform very well and have a very linear power curve with no reported mechanical problems that Im aware. That makes me very skeptical of your initial post. If you want to be part of the community then welcome. Just hang around make some friends post some useful information and your credibility will increase. There is a LOT you can gain from being here since you have a brand new A3. Welcome. Cheers
