No problem. Information is what this forum is about but we are very skeptical of a newbie coming on and posting about AWESOME new products. There is no credibility there at all. I would argue that you are either totally excited about your new chip tune and swept by the salesman that hooked you up or you are somehow in a position to obtain gain from people using this product. Personally Ive seen cars with REVO APR GIAC and Neuspeed tuning. Each is a little different and all perform very well and have a very linear power curve with no reported mechanical problems that Im aware. That makes me very skeptical of your initial post. If you want to be part of the community then welcome. Just hang around make some friends post some useful information and your credibility will increase. There is a LOT you can gain from being here since you have a brand new A3. Welcome. Cheers
I figured that was the case after your second post. The car is totally different with the chip tuning. And It can get a lot better with just a little more investment. LOL Careful the mod bug is very dangerous. Cheers
You could probably gain a bit of credibility by offering up some numbers and maybe a web link. For anyone who is interested here ya go httpwww.oct-tuning.comindex.php (courtesy of The Google). Stage 3 is advertised as 261 HP 360 Nm of torque (read 265.49 lbft) with a - 5% variance. This sounds pretty much in-line with all the other tunes on the market. sven- you may also want to post in the Regional
thank BAMF. The oct-tuning.com website is pretty informative. I didnt want to overload the forum with various charts etc... But I can email anyone more info independently. They are the largest tuner in Europe and are conservative in their s which are based on 91 oct. Looking at thesthey are consistent with other tuners but their curve is different which to me is what makes their tuning great.
Quote ORIGINAL eltonsi Quote ORIGINAL falcompsx 250hp only gets 169 to the wheels huh Quattro must really be a drain on efficiency in the a3... Doesnt the 2.0T dyno over 200hp to the wheels(chipped) Read my post again... Different dyno has different numbers. This same Dyno had a M5 there with 280 HP to the wheels. As I said this is a very conservative dyno. Not to mention the A3 had DSG whichmade it
Check out the latest issue of European Car it has the A5 on the front of it. I thought that sounded like a bit of BS I dont know how you could get that much power only from tuning and not more boost. I might have to send a nasty gram to the editors.
Just as an FYI. I purchased an ECU programmer for the A3 I have on order. It is a self contained programmer with both aUSB cable for receiving updates over theweb and an OBDII cable for plugging into the OBDII outlet under the dash. It allows me to return all settings to factory before a dealer visit and to re-tune after the visit. The HPtorque after tuning is 245266. I have this system in my Volvo
You dont need to get it from the dealership... other than that... my car has unitronic stage 1 and with the newest DV revision it runs flawlessly P and I would never go back to a car without a chip
Not sure where you live but in GA I hear that J3 Motorsports does a good job. Just passed my warranty period and going to chip my 06.
Welcome I suggest breaking in the car properly before you start adding mods. That way if there is any warranty issues you wont have a battle. I also suggest starting with a chip but a CAI might not be a bad thing either considering Vegas heat. An oversized FMIC would probably help too or just get a nitrous sprayer for those time you feel the need. Cheers
APR and GIAC are both very good tuning companies. Their dyno results are very similar. You really cant go wrong with either. REVO is another very good tuning company. In all cases they can now flash your ECU through the OBDII port. In the past you had to send in your ECU but now it is just flashed at the dealer and takes about 12 hour. Prices are relatively similar. APR and GIAC claim that they are
Actually I am going with a PPC tuning system with RICA software. I can tune or untune the car myself. I had this sytem for my V50 T5 and it worked well. Same horsepower and torque as APR and I can return the car to its original settings before going to the dealer. I can also download any OEM tuning upgrades through the internet. The system is pricey though at 995.
Thanks guys. It could just be his set up. Plus dont all dynos read a little differentlytuning of the car is possibly off
didnt mean to talk down on the Revo folks. All I was trying to say is that APR has a tuning file specifcally for DSG while REVO only has a one size fits all file for both transmissions. People who went from REVO to APR notcied smoother shifts and stuff in DSTIP. If you want a race then Im game. My only request is a rolling start at 15mph Mind you please remember what happend to the late mr. evoic. Vid1 Vid2

is the stage 2 any more agressive in tuning or only to prevent the CEL
Basically its the same tune. AFAIK Your boost level wont change and the only software change is the error code fix. Now having said that after you have the full exhaust your car will be faster. When you get the stage II then your tuner should log your car to adjust the timing and fueling to maximize performance. That will show improvement in horsepower but mostly due to the exhaust and not the increased tuning due to the second stage. Cheers

1 on getting the DV checked. Also does anyone know if audi corrected the PCV problem on the newer models Regarding E85 I dont think the A3 would handle it properly unmodified. The A3s ecu is very good at adjusting fuel flow and timing based on what gas you are running but since E85 has less energy potential per gallon than gasoline it would require more of it to make the same power. I dont know if
I can confirm the stealth of Superchip. I have my TDI chipped and 2 weeks later I had my car in with audi for 3 days of extensive fiddling with my ECU and ESP set-up. They went all over the car electronically including showing me a lot of the data they pulled out of the car. They never found out the car is chipped with Superchip. Im also very happy with the chip performance 1) Even more torque more
anyone got there cars flashed with LC when i bought my car the sales guy said i could get it done. if you have had it done how well does it work is it worth it and if you got it done at the dealership how much did they charge got an 09 here and launch control works (the car came with it no chipping). unfortunately theres a bit of a lag (about half a sec) before the car goes. ive been told that audi
My question would be whether the only difference is in the chip-tuning firmware
Youll definitely FEEL the difference with the chip. The torque is what youll feel during driving and it will be a bigger gain than chipping the FSI engine. Superchips is a well-known and respected company so I wouldnt worry about their tuning of your car. Your car will be a torque monster Cheers
How To Spend Your First 100 in Upgrades. 1) Put a thousand or so miles on the car before you do anything so you have a baseline 2) Set your tire pressures at 35 lbs all around 2) Order a dogbone bushing from ECS tuning 40. I actually just got back from the dealer for getting a bulb fixed and an oil change and they informed me of the software update. I dont think think its the reflash but the service executive did ask if i had any tuning chips in the car because they would probably be erased in the process.
Remembering of course that the A3 is a turbo engine and the BMW X3 is not. hence the wide disparity between chip results from the two companies. I would also be concerned about the longevity of the high output modified turbo engine as well at least in the long term. That said VWaudi engines are superb and lend themselves well to tuning with great results. The new Porsche Cayenne V6 (2011) runs 350
