AUDI A3 Advice for Audi A3 retrofit parts

Hi Guys Failry new to this forum long time member but never posted b4. I have just sold my audi A6 3.0TDi Quattro and got myself an A3 2.0TDi 140BHP Quattro 3 Door 2006 model. I am looking to get some retrofit parts fitted (cruise control Multi-Function Steering Wheel RNS-E Auto Wiperslights etc etc) but am a complete noooooob when it comes to this. I have found many websites that offer the parts and

vag-com is a cable and program that you use to hook up to the cars computer. you can buy a vag-com cable and software and do it yourself. i doubt a dealer will do that for you since its basically over-riding oem programming.

AUDI A3 I 8L Cross referencing parts from VW Golf GTI to 2002 Audi A3 1.8T

Okay I have a 2002 audi A3 1.8T specd in Japan and I get confused at times trying to order parts from the US since they do not have this model in US. I bought the Haynes audi A3 service and repair manual for 1996 to 2003 audi A3 and it helps me some with other things too but still confusing due to the types of engines. I have engine code AUQ and I was able to use the same year VW Golf GTI w1.8L T to

I can look up non US parts cant order them if they are different than US parts though. For your fuel filter youd use 1J0201511A and that is shared with many other audi cars. The 02-05 v6 A4 for one. I cant tell you anything about the VW end of this but you can run that part number by that dealer if they are the closest one to you. See if that works out. That filter from us is 11.25 plus shipping which we would have to work out what the price on that would be if you are interested. Thanks Jeff.

Glad to help. I looked up 2 different part numbers to an A4 fuel filter a while back. The strange thing is they looked identical but had two different part numbers on the box. One was for quattro other not. And it wasnt a mounting issue being the difference either. Id double check the part numbers to what you have on your car and what you are going to put on it. Make sure they are the same before installation. Thanks

Im going to match up the filter first and want to have something on hand. I could not get any information off the old filter with it mounted and did not want to mess with it since those connections are brittle and you have to be careful. Thanks again.

AUDI A3 parts interchangable between a3 and VW timing belt water pump etc

Hi I have an audi A3 1.6L built 0797 VIN ending in 131653. I have been trying to find a timing belt kit (including water pump) but have found that alot of online stores dont have a category for the a3 1.6 and dont seem to stock parts for them. I know that the VW Jettagolf etc were built with some part sharing. Does anybody know which parts are interchangeable between these cars Specifically can I use a timing belt kit for a 1993-1999 VW golfjetta in my 1997 audi a3 Thanks in advance John

AUDI A3 re new car decision

Hello all I currently am seriously considering getting an 06-08 A3. was looking for cons... as the pros are easy to find. Also i currently have an 06 GTI and have done some mods (apr intake forge DV relocate pcv bypass) im wondering if these changes are similar if not the same for the A3. Thanks for reading p.s. i posted in new member area but there is probably more traffic here

A A3 is basically the same car same motor suspension transmission. I currently was in your situation and i went with the a3 last month. Mainly becuase the A3 had more room inside and has leather standard. I got the 06 with the dsg and i love it. Good on gas yet still fast and handles like a dream. Plus with the extra trunk space i had room for my system. Im sure you already know VW owns audi so everything

AUDI A3 Need info...car problems stressing me out

Hey everyone My 2007 A3 2.0T has about 6000 miles on it and sadly it has done nothing but cause me grief and stress from the day I got it. Don™t get me wrong I love my car the way it drives (when it is working okay) handles and looks and there is no other car out there right now that I would want instead (well maybe the same one but with no problems). I got the car because I was afraid that my 2003

AUDI A3 New Car--Breaking In period

Hi--I just picked up my 2006 Black audi A3 (2.0 Manual). My other car is a 2003 Honda Pilot EX-NAV so I dont know much about what I think is being referred to as a break in period. Since my husband will now get the Pilot--should I be driving the audi in a particular manner Any insights would be helpful. Thanks

yes. break in period is when you allow the engines parts no find their own special places. all you have to do is not to allow hard accelerations change oil one time in 1000 miles and not to rev the engine very high. imagine as you being a granma slow and easy no wories. in like 5000-10000miles the engine should break in and then you can race it like a teenager who got her drivers licence.

This is really an interesting and important matter and I™d like to know as well. Form my 1st year of (automobile wasn™t my stream but the 1st year is the same for all of us in my country) what I know is ˜breaking in a new engine™ means you are basically attempting to set the piston rings and the valves and that is very very important for a mechanical engine in terms performance for long run. To do this the most important thing is to be very careful about not to keep the engine at constant revs and preferably not exceeding 2500 to 3000 rpms during the breaking in period. Ive also heard that synthetic motor oil should not be used during the break-in period because they work too well in keeping friction down. Now the thing which I don™t know is how many miles Iwe need to go to do this. But I can guess that varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. TDi takes a bit longer to set. Most manufacturers have recommendations in their handbooks. I googl™ed a little bit and below the extract I got so far Basically you start off treating the engine very gently i.e. gentle revs and never more than 14 throttle. Over time you gradually use more revs and more throttle until you eventually end up using the full range of the engine. It is important to eventually end up using all the power and rev range to wear harden various parts. It is also important that you do not keep to a single continuous speed or gear but vary your speed quite a bit during this time (a long highway journey is NOT a good break in if you just sit in top gear at a continuous speed). This is because things are still hardening up and you can wear a groove into them. Modern engines break in relatively quickly often 1000km older designs took longer as the tolerances were not as precise. The first oil change is often a lot sooner than later ones as during break in rough edges from manufacturing will be worn off and end up in the oil. Drive it gently. General rule is not to exceed 3000 - 3500 rpm. for the first 500 miles. It is also a good idea to be kind to it for the first 2000 miles. All engine bearings and cylinders etc. must wear evenly and properly. Also piston rings need to seat. Some piston rings take up to 5000 miles to fully seat or wear evenly to cylinder bore. Not foiling proper break in procedures could result in premature engineparts failure. Im really interested in the comments from some experienced driver and mechanics. I really need to know whether is it 1000 miles or 10000 miles to complete to break-in properly The car I™ll be having is a 2.0 TDi A3.

AUDI A3 PARTS AVAILABILITY

I have had a seat belt recepticle (the buckle part) on order since May 21 2007 for my drivers seat. Yesterday I was told that there is still no scheduled ship date for the blasted part. I have been ting...ting...tinged out of my mind since May. A couple of questions here. One...is this the typical delay for audi parts Two...is my airbag system connected if the car is not registering a connected belt

Your driver side airbag should be active any time the car is running since there pretty much has to be a driver in the car for it to go anywhere. On the passenger side it uses a weight sensor so whether or not the belt is snapped in makes no difference. I think this is a valid complaint if you want to go through contacting the NHTSA Ive never had to do it so I dont know how much BS you may have to

Quote ORIGINAL theevidence187 anyone got any recommendations for what products to use to cleanprotect the leathervinyl parts of the seats also...anyone use the mr. clean autodry car wash to wash their rides likesdislike about it thanks On the leather care you want a good pH-balanced conditioner to help protect against heat damage. My detail shop uses the Lexol Leather Conditioner that is available at Autogeek.net and other places. If you read earlier posts we have discussed washing the A3 several times and the understanding is to avoid car washes unless you like lots of stratches.

AUDI A3 STaSIS kits and parts

Hey everyone i have been looking at the kits and parts that STaSIS offer for our audis it seems impressive also the fact that audi dealerships will do this work and cover it under warranty is interesting i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it and how do they like it i am looking for something that isnt too crazy but i wouldnt mind some more power out of my stock 2.0t a3 also if you

Unfortunately not ALL audi dealers will do Stasis kits you have be a Stasis partner. httpwww.stasisengineering.commap.aspx Looks like Bedford Ohio is the closest one. That said they do a very nice job balancing power handling and braking. I wouldnt go with 19s though looks great but the ride suffers too much. If you want something better there are other options - the Stasis supension kit are a preset

I would start with the handling and braking first. The dogbone and a Neuspeed rear sway bar will utterly transform the car. Or you can get a set of 20MM RSB bushings from Summit Autopart for 11 and get about 50% of what the RSB does. For 100 you can get the Dogbone the RSB bushings and a K&N Air filter (good for 1 MPG on my trip computer FWIW) and its all doable in a shop for maybe an hour to 90 minutes

AUDI A3 800 miles on the car and this happens

I pull into the garage and the front end falls off. just in time for the new parts. This is one of the engine cover under modification. I am trying to keep as much of it as possible

I agree with you chef other than the ton of screws they use it was easy. After the last two 10mm bolts it just slid right off no pulling or tugging like some of my other cars.I also had to swap out my front badge. As for the sound I willhave to wait till tomorrow to hear that I am just prepping everything the parts arrive tomorrow.

Well thanks to UPS my parts will not arrive till Monday the 20th. [(]So now the car will sit for the weekend. I will post up pics as soon as the parts arrive.

AUDI A3 Audi rubber cargo mat

Got mine today and am quite pleased with it. Ive read comments in a couple other posts that it does not fit well but that is not my experience. When first laid it in it did look as though it was too big and that the lip along the back would not lie down. However once I folded the front lip over and pushed the mat all the way forward against the seats it fit perfectly. Very snug and almost no gaps along

thats exactly how mine fits. the best i can do is fold it up under the angled seatbacks but it still fits like crap. theres a huge space on the left side in the corner too. i stopped by the dealer today and tried another one to no avail. the parts department was no help. can you email those to AoA and see the official response from headquarters

AUDI A3 A3 alignment specs

Does anybody have the alignment specs for an 08 A3 (caster camber and toe front and rear). Had Michelin MXM4s mounted recently and shop recommended setting to max negative camber as European manufacturers typically recommend postive camber - resulting in inside tread wear. I declined for now. The Pirelli tires I took off had inside tread wear though some of that occured before I had the dealer align the car last year. BTW I believe this to be a reputable shop.
