The car ran beautifully for the first 6 years70k miles then began throwing misfire codes that seem to plague so many owners. I have heard there is a place the will refurbish all 4 injectors for 100 - you UPS it to them. Dont know if thats just cleaning them or what. Jim

Hi My camshaft broke 3 weeks ago on my A3 from 2006 with 85 000 miles. It broke between the gear and the first (valvemover correct word not known) Luckily they replaced the engine under warranty but it doesnt feel like it was before. Who had the same problem

Having some idle issues with my 3.2. It seems to be idling low (600rpm) and the car rumbles a bit. It was previously jumpy (600-1200 or so) and had a check engine light that turned out to be an oxygen sensor so thought that was the issue but after the o2 sensor fix it still idles low and rumbles. Iv just had my audi a3 2001 1.8t aum in for a timing belt change.when i got it back it is hard to start.its starts after thr 4th or 5th attempt. UPDATE - audi are now saying its the camshaft position sensor thats wrong and it will take 4 hours labour to fix which they want me to pay for. I basiclaly told them that they can off if they think I am paying anything else. Does this sound viable and would there have been any symptoms

Im looking at a 2006 A3 DSG. It shows 106000 and is visibly clean and straight. No dings or dents and the interior is very clean. Im assuming you mean DSG transmission Hard to tell without mentioning the engine. There are 2 major players - the 2.0t and the 3.2 v6 engines. On both I would make absolutely sure the timing belt was done since they didnt add a chain until 2008 (I think). With that kind of mileage I would certainly hope they did that already. The camshaft replacement would be considered a good thing especially if it was accompanied by a fuel pump replacement. The campump interface has been a wear issue on quite a few early A3s. I havent (yet) had this problem on mine at 58K.

Whats every ones opinion on what mileage to change timing belt 2006 A3 audi 2.0 liter.

The factory recommendation for timing belt replacement is 105000 miles but that seems long to me. OTOH I just had my intake camshaft replaced (along with the fuel pump and follower) at 71K. The mechanic looked at the timing belt and thought it looked fine. I plan on replacing it around 85-90K.
