MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Noisy Fuel PumpsAccumulator question

Sometimes when I start my 190e 2.3 there is a strange noise coming from the fuel pump location. When I start the engine cold there is no noise. When I turn the key on when the engine is hot the fuel pumps operate for a second or two and they sound normal. But sometimes when the engine is hot and I start the engine there is weird grindinggrumbling noise thats hard to describe and it last for maybe 10-15

Hi Logon_Bob No test as such but car was consistently hard to start when hot after sitting for a while. Also when hot if you stopped the engine and started it straight away it worked fine. This is because the pressure is still in the system and hadnt had time to leak down. To confirm the problem I disconnected the accumulator at the hose end (clamped) and a fine spray of fuel came out indicating a

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Fuel Accumulator Question

I suspect that the fuel accumulator is going bad on my 93 190e 2.3. Occasionally during hot starts there is a sound of gas re-entering the gas tank a gurgling noise and the car is running like its getting low fuel pressure for a few seconds then it smooths out and runs fine. Theoretically should fuel be able to come out of the fuel accumulator return line If it does it is a sign of a ruptured part

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 86 190e Starts Stalls wStrong Fuel Smell

My very high-mileage 1986 190e 2.3 W201.124 has been starting hard and producing a strong fuel smell from the engine compartment for the last few months. Once started it ran fine. Today I jump-started it and it would turn over start to run roughly then stall. The only fuel-related issue Ive had is repairing a bad solder joint on the fuel pump relay a few years ago. Short of having it dragged to the repair shop Im at a loss. Any ideas

I finally had to resort to getting the 190e towed to the repair shop (they have serviced the car its entire life). MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Mercedes fuel pump - 190e

Hello to everyone Im not a newbie when it comes to cars but other than changing coolant Ive never wrenched on a mercedes. My girlfriend has a 1993 190e with 105000 miles on it. Beautiful car but recently was acting up and finally wont start. All signs and 8-ball shakes lead to fuel pump however..... Her usual mechanic told her that he never deals with mercedes fuel pumps. Many other shops she called

In that model there will be dual fuel pumps mounted external to the fuel tank along with the filter and fuel accumulator. When you switch the car on you should be able to hear the buzz of the pumps pressurizing the system. If you dont then its either the pump(s) have failed or theyre not getting any current. Before changing consider the OVP relay and fuel pump relay both located behind the battery under the hood.

Let us know how this worked out for you. I am relieved that you have experience with fuel pumps. Removing the whole assembly--fuel pumps filter and fuel accumulator is quite simple since the assembly is attached to rubber holders. When you disconnect the banjo fittings you should replace the copper washers when you refit. Probably a good idea to replace the filter while you are at it. New fuel pumps

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 190E Fuel pumps

Hello all. Does anyone know if all the 190e fuel pumps are the same Or at least all from a given year (1988 or so). I want to replace my 190e 2.3 (8v) fuel pump and want to know whether I can take one from a scrap 190e 1.8 2.0 or 2.6. What for the 16V models Do they have two fuel pumps Are they equal to the others Best regards

Sergio Im pretty sure that the later (post 86) 2.3L had the dual fuel pumps. To confirm on your car the fuel pumps are located under a plastic cover on the left rear side approximately under the rear seat area. In addtion to the pumps you should see a fuel accumulator cannister and a single fuel filter but the twin pumps should be joined together in line.

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Buying a 190E 2.3 16

Hey guys I just came across a 2.3 16V. I havent seen the car as of yet. Will be going to check it out 1st thing tomorrow morning or whenever the seller has time. Thing is I dont know much about them and I have a couple of very important questions. 1. Are the parts more expensive for the 16Vs Since its a cosworth engine and all. Also cheaper vs more expensive than a W124. 2. fuel economy - I am still

My humble recollections of the cost of maintaining a mercedes 190e will no doubt generate controversy but I have the following diametrically opposed points to make. As to my 2.3 from 1992 I never imagined a cheaper more dependable car. It took me through five children professional school and outlasted all my other vehicles. I spent more money repairing my wife&8217s 1992 Mazda Prot&233g&233 than I

I have a 1992 190e that i just replaced the head gasket rotor cap timing chain rails and plugs. it ran rough when i test drove it then died and would not restart. towed it home. replaced the hydraulic lifters. now it turns over but will not start. It has strong spark and will fire with starting fliud then dies. does anyone have any idea whats going on

Since their introduction the Jetronic fuel injection systems have proved themselves millions of times over under the harsh conditions of everyday driving. This success is a result of the advantages which fuel injection can offer when considering todays demands for economy performance and cleaner exhausts. The K-Jetronic is a mechanical system in which the fuel is continuously metered in accordance

Drained the gas tank. (some varnish and obviously stale) Cleaned the fuel distributor. Checked the vacuum lines hoses. I will let you know how things go but I wanted to thank you for this information and would welcome anything eles you can share. Also I need an alternator or VR and yep headlights. MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 1986 190e KE Jetronic Blues -- Help

Last fall I bought a clean 86 190e 5 speed for 850.00 with about 175k miles on it (speedo is broken). I am impressed with the quality of design and balance of the vehicle but the motor has some ticking noises yet seems to be strong. Ive read the threads of many Benz sites and believe it is a collapsing valve lifter. It seems to also have higher than normal radiator pressure yet no white smoke or overheating.

I have found the correct diagram and the gizmo that recycles the the fuel and feeds the fuel distributer is called the fuel Pressure Regulator. Since I swapped the fuel distributer from a running 88 190e and still the 86 wouldnt run. I tested the pressure at the various suggested test points and the pressures were within tolerance the regulator has to be the source of problems. Especially since the

Im debating what the idle problem with my 190e-2.6 would be. It does seem to run better on premium gas but sometimes........it stumbles and grumbles at idle. The car never stalls but when you leave the stoplight....its agonizingly slow unresponsive and burbles and gurgles until it gets up to speed.
